1 Head of Engagement Job Specification Closing date for applications is 5pm Friday 21st December 2018 Dublin City Council Culture Company wishes to recruit a Head of Engagement to work alongside the CEO and team. The Head of Engagement is a key role and one of the senior management team of Dublin City Council Culture Company. As Head of Engagement, your role is to manage the existing programmes, and devise new programmes as relevant which allow us to achieve our goals and to ensure that our values are embedded in and permeate all our activity. The company s work is focused on embedding cultural experiences and increasing cultural participation throughout Dublin s neighbourhoods. Current engagement projects include Tea & Chats, Culture Club, 14 Henrietta Street, The National Neighbourhood, Culture Near You, and Heart of the City. More details available at About Dublin City Council Company Dublin City Council Culture Company is a new company established to create and deliver cultural initiatives in Dublin city and to initiate, implement and manage cultural programmes and buildings for the benefit of the citizens of Dublin, locally and citywide. Collaborating with citizens, communities, cultural organisations, businesses, and Dublin City Council itself, the company s work is focused on embedding cultural experiences and increasing cultural participation throughout Dublin s neighbourhoods. 14 Henrietta Street, from Georgian townhouse to tenement dwelling, is a new visitor experience which Dublin City Council Culture Company operates. Dublin City Council owns and conserve the building. The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for the governance of the Dublin City Council Culture Company. A Cultural Advisory Group and Heritage Advisory Group, including leading arts, cultural, and academic stakeholders, will support and inform the activities of the Culture Company. ABOUT THE ROLE POSITION SUMMARY Post Title: Head of Engagement Dublin City Council Culture Company Post Status: Fixed Term Contract (full-time), three years. Location: Dublin City Council Culture Company, 14 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1. Reports to: CEO Dublin City Council Culture Company. Key relationships: Head of Visitor Experience, Communications Manager, Company Administrator, Head of Operations, Project Manager EU Lab, Project Managers Culture Near You Line Management: Engagement Team, currently five Engagement Coordinators Salary: 48,000 gross p.a. Pension: A contribution of 10% of salary will be made to an agreed pension savings scheme subject to the individual contributing a similar percentage.

2 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Key Line Manager Responsibilities Lead and inspire the Engagement Team, expand it, and develop it towards best practice in citizen cultural engagement Team support, recruitment, training, performance reviews, and management Assist in the development of the Engagement Budget, and management thereof Ensure Dublin City Council Culture Company policies are adhered to, standards are maintained, and best practice is used at all times Work closely with the Dublin City Council Culture Company Head of Operations to ensure the smooth functioning of your contractor team in relation to HR, finance, health and safety, and operations Engagement & Participation Development Develop and implement a 2019 Engagement Programme Plan, through connecting people through culture and conversation, towards cultural participation locally and citywide Build relationships at a local level with citizens, community groups, potential participants Work to source and support artists & arts organisations in collaborative engagement projects and in other projects of Dublin City Council Culture Company Work with Dublin City Council sections, including the community development teams, to reach out into the city as widely as possible Engage relevant contacts in the general community and the artistic communities, across a wide range of artistic disciplines into the project and its development Identify and pursue opportunities to develop collaborative ventures and projects with a range of local, national and international culture, education, and heritage partners, seeking mutually beneficial partnerships for cross-promotional opportunities Work closely with the Dublin City Council Culture Company Head of Visitor Experience and Communications Manager to develop a public engagement strategy for 14 Henrietta Street and other projects as arise to include dynamic and innovative events and education programmes to engage visitors of all ages. Assist in the implementation of this programme with the support and collaboration of the wider team Project Development Be part of a wider team working to create, deliver and respond to the projects of Dublin City Council Culture Company and the themes and ideas of Dubliners, artists, creative communities and partners. Contribute to the creative content that will underpin the development of the projects Optimise development opportunities for the projects in line with the mission of Dublin City Council Culture Company Display the ability to efficiently and effectively work collaboratively with and support and lead other team members and contractors to support, co-design and deliver the engagement programme that is innovative and inspirational Contribute to the development of a Dublin City Council Culture Company Strategy and be responsible for the development of the Engagement Strategy within this.

3 Project Management & Delivery Successfully deliver, support and manage the Engagement Team and projects including budget management and team management Prepare and provide access to and detail on marketing and promotional opportunities that may arise; support Public Relations and public awareness campaigns throughout

4 Manage, mediate and engage positively with all the different team members, partners and the public Develop a legacy plan & keep it in mind at each stage of the project Ensure compliance with all financial, contractual and legal requirements and appropriate Health and Safety requirements and that any resulting event or project takes place within a secure and safe environment Provide plans, budgets, and reports as necessary to CEO General Training as directed by Dublin City Culture Company will be mandatory to include Disability Equality Training and Child Protection Training. Professional development opportunities will be discussed in line with company policy following your probation period. Be part of a wider team working to deliver the overall programmes of Dublin City Council Culture Company, which should always include the opportunity for participation, training, learning and skills sharing Work with other Heads of Departments to develop and implement legacy plans for key strands and projects, supporting the project review process to ensure all learnings are captured and shared IDEAL CANDIDATE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED A minimum of two years relevant management experience Experience and understanding of cultural engagement and cultural projects Experience of team management and public facing roles Experience in activating alternative consultation processes in previous roles Experience in project planning and project delivery Up to date knowledge of activities in the area of cultural participation and cultural access in other City contexts Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills Proven success in strategic planning, budget planning and administration in the cultural field Ideally a qualification in social research and public consultation PERSON SPECIFICATION The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong examples from their past experience highlighting that they have both the capability and desire for this role. 5 TERMS The Salary is 48,000 per annum with a 6-month probationary period. This is a fixed term contract full time for three years.
