2 Level 1: Individual Identification and Recruitment Action Plan Goal The recruiter will know how to develop an individual ld&r action plan for finding eligible migrant children, youth and their families. The recruiter will be able to evaluate the implementation of an individual ID&R action plan and revise as needed. National ID&R Curriculum

3 Level 1: Individual Identification and Recruitment Action Plan Objectives Participants will be able to: Explain why it is important to develop an individual action plan to find migrant families and youth. Identify the elements of an individual action plan. Develop an individual action plan for finding migrant families and youth. National ID&R Curriculum

4 Level 1: Individual Identification and Recruitment Action Plan Objectives Participants will be able to: Assess the effectiveness of the implementation of an individual action plan. Identify those aspects of the plan that need to be revised or adapted to make it more effective. Recommend needed adaptations or revisions to the plan.

6 Action Plan: Definition and Elements An action plan is a written plan that an individual, or organization, develops to guide and focus their efforts in order to reach a desired goal. Every action plan should have: A goal - what you want to accomplish. Objectives - the steps you need to take to reach your goal. National ID&R Curriculum

7 Action Plan: Objectives Specific Objectives need to be clear and detailed. Realistic The person has to believe it is possible to achieve.

8 Action Plan: Objectives Time-specific Deadlines for achieving each stage should be set. These should be in the foreseeable future. Small enough to be handled. Large enough to show results. Measurable Results need to be measurable. Outcomes must be what the person really wants.

9 Types of Action Plans in the MEP State Local Individual

10 Types of Action Plans in the MEP Partner up with someone at another table. Each pair will have one set of cards and a workmat. With your partner, decide if the description you read on the card would be included in the state, local or individual action plan.

11 Individual ID&R Action Plan Builds on the state and local action plans. Should be detailed and specific. Translates into a schedule or to do list for the recruiter with a specific timeframe. Includes recruitment objectives.

12 Individual ID&R Action Plan Individual ID&R action plans posted around the room. Each plan has four objectives listed. Fill out the plan as a group. No more than four participants to a group. Once you have decided on your group of four, report to one of the posters with a marker and WAIT

13 Individual ID&R Action Plan Complete the first objective as a whole group. As a small group, fill out the chart for the remaining objectives. You also have two blank rows to add your own objectives. If you choose to add additional objectives, please make sure you fill in all appropriate columns for that objective.

14 Individual ID&R Action Plan: Debrief What was the hardest part about writing the individual ID&R action plan? How was the action plan you wrote different from the action plans your colleagues wrote? What similarities did the action plan you wrote have to the action plans written by your colleagues?

15 Individual ID&R Action Plan: Develop Take a minute to think about the action plan you wrote with your group. Think about some of the action plans your colleagues wrote. Take your individual ID&R action plan Template and fill it out based on the samples around the room or your own ideas that were generated by today s discussion.

17 Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down An individual ID&R action plan forces the recruiter to: Think about what should be accomplished. Establish recruitment objectives. Decide the best way to attain these objectives. Develop specific action steps and timelines for the completion of the recruitment objectives.

18 Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down An individual ID&R action plan encourages the recruiter to: Use time wisely. Evaluate work and adjust strategies as needed. Leave a guide for a new recruiter.

20 Evaluating an Individual ID&R Action Plan Once you have written your individual ID&R action plan, do you ever revisit it? Why or why not? Updating the individual ID&R action plan should be an ongoing task.
