6 You uses force to make an employee comply. STRENGTH Use of force will ensure the compliance of the individual, but the motivation will be gone. You use rewards to get what is needed done. TREAT A reward system will make the individual happy, but what about the rest of the team? No motivation. You have the position therefore the right to give orders. RIGHT The employees' respect you or want to be you or part of your circle. TRUST You are an individual with a high level of knowledge or specialized skill set. KNOWLEDGE Sometimes people get put into leadership roles without the skills, the employees know it, and sometimes they know it too. Your style works because you are surrounded by people that like you, that is, until they don t. You get things done because your team respects your expertise, but leadership encompasses areas in which you may not be an expert in. What then?

Try it Are you stepping in and helping because you are a team player, or do you not have the confidence to tell your people what to do and then leave them to do it? This can cause you a lot of stress, you want to please everyone and leave little time for your own work. You are afraid to hurt people s feelings. rather than discipline? Coach because you are so awesome you want to share it with others. How truthful are coaches? You build consensus through participation. What do you think? If you hire a experts you should seek their advice, but the ultimate decision should be yours. Sometimes this is used to prevent the leader from taking all the blame.
