7 Objective 1: We promote new and growing business activities. We support the operational requirements of associations and foundations. We are uncomplicated on purpose. We offer you an easy and reliable way to register businesses and organisations and to protect industrial property rights. Today, many of our services related to the Trade Register, associations, trademarks, patents and utility models are available online. In the near future our internal processes will also be available online, thus allowing us to further improve and speed up the service. With our help, the process of starting businesses and establishing organisations and foundations becomes fast and smooth. Our web service is convenient for filing basic notices or making amendments to an association and very soon it will also be possible to establish a limited liability company online. Our electronic information services support business activities in various ways. We provide extensive information about granted patents and registered trademarks as well as Trade Register information. We are constantly collaborating with different partners, and therefore we are able to offer reliable and necessary information to benefit both businesses and the public administration. We actively take part in mutual services and projects, such as Enterprise Finland and Action Programme on eservices and edemocracy. All notices and amendments to the Trade Register will be made online by the end of 2015 The processing of trademarks and design rights as well as the patent and utility model processes will be carried out entirely online from 2013 The electronic business information services is being extended over the next three years (completion in 2015) Is it possible to make a start-up notification of a limited company directly online?

9 Objective 2: We are a recognised organisation granting exclusive rights. Examining is our job. We examine in advance if trademarks can be registered or if company names are applicable and unique, and thus make it easier for companies to operate within their market. Before granting a patent we examine the novelty and inventiveness of the invention in order for our clients to obtain a strong patent. In our work we use the online information search systems and extensive databases of the European Patent Office (EPO). By carrying out yearly evaluations we ensure the quality of patent examination and the productivity of our processes. We continuously collect international reference data. We also have a supply of comparative data on processing times in other Nordic countries and within the EU. The reputation we have gained is entirely based on the high quality of our work. 11 Objective 3: We are a pioneer in providing online services. Electricity in the air. The programme to improve our online services, eprh, coordinates all our information systems and services. This means that we will continue to improve the processing of matters and to offer a wider range of e-services for our clients. The Register of Associations already leads the way for online services within public administration. We create new services and improve existing ones based on our clients needs. Usability is the key factor, supported by more explicit and uniform services. 13 Objective 4: All our information is used effectively. Information should be shared. When the Trade Register s current development projects are completed it will be easier for our clients to quickly register updated business details. New systems and measures allow us to monitor more efficiently that the information in the Trade Register is upto-date. Because of the close cooperation within the EU, a wider range of information on trademarks and designs will be available. In addition, our patent information services are being further improved. Therefore we expect to see lots of satisfied clients. Company information in the Trade Register is actively used as basic information within the Ministry of Employment and the Economy group, thus serving the needs of society as well as commerce and industry. The collaboration between the NBPR and the Tax Administration provide our clients with more extensive and up-to-date financial statements. Our new marketing and communication concept encourages us to regularly share information and to communicate with our clients. Information is always a positive thing. 15 Objective 5: A single unified NBPR. Together we are stronger. Even though we still have a lot to do, we have worked hard to create closer collaboration and better interaction. 17 Objective 6: We do everything cost-effectively and efficiently. We make a positive impression in a profitable way. We do our work well when we do it efficiently and cost-effectively. Measures that help us succeed include providing a concentrated management of projects, streamlining processes and developing cost and utility analysis of data systems. 19 Objective 7: We have the most competent staff and the most exemplary leadership. We are competent and still improving. Our competent and engaged staff are our most valuable asset and must therefore be nurtured. Joint discussions, evaluations and colleague support further improve the leadership. We take care of our staff by: introducing good customs according to the result of a communication and competence project in 2012 and 2013; providing staff training courses and recreational activities; carrying out measures to improve the working environment; arranging managerial training courses regularly; making comprehensive evaluations of managers.
