End Point Assessment (EPA): One of key changes in the apprenticeship reforms Assessment of an apprentices knowledge and practical capabilities The Apprentice Assessment Organisation must be independent of and separate from the provider and employer Graded in almost all cases 20% of funding held back for EPA Assessment Plan will outline assessment methods

End Point Assessment (EPA): For assessing practical competence Portfolio Workplace observation Assignment Workplace project For assessing knowledge based competence Project Professional discussion Interview Assessment of work output For assessing knowledge Examinations Multiple-choice tests Professional discussion

Benefits of having apprentices in your business: Provides people with the right skills and behaviours to increase productivity Builds a more motivated workforce Access to a source of untapped talent Opportunity to raise the standard and quality of training within the recruitment profession

What is the Apprenticeship Levy & who pays it? The Apprenticeship Levy is a tax on UK employers with a PAYE bill of over 3 million per year These employers are required to pay 0.5% of their annual payroll into a Levy fund on a monthly basis to pay for new Apprentices. Employers in England will receive a 10% top-up to their monthly Levy contributions from the Government, once they have spent their full Levy fund. If you don t spend your Levy fund you ll lose it

What if I'm not a Levy payer? Non-levy payers will have to make a cash contribution of 10% to the cost of the apprenticeship In year one, these will be made directly to the providers Employers with less than 50 employees will be able to train year old apprentices without making a contribution Employers who take on a year old will receive a 1k government incentive

What can I spend my Apprenticeship Levy on and/or what can I have funded? Any apprenticeship delivered by approved providers registered on the RoATP Upskill existing staff, at any level, any age No employer NI contributions payable for employees aged under 25 on an approved apprenticeship scheme The Levy offers a great opportunity to upskill your existing staff of all ages, (16+ with no upper age limit), and offer them professional accreditations. It s not just about recruiting young people into entry level roles
