1 Job Description Job Title: Campus: Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Manager Hendon Grade: 8 Salary: Period: Reporting to: Reports: 43,486-49,996 per annum Permanent Head of External Relations Corporate Communications Assistant Events and Communications Assistant Overall Purpose: An exceptional networker, communicator and writer, you will be responsible for the development and execution of the corporate communications and stakeholder engagement strategy and operational plan to engage key external stakeholders outside the University whether councilors, MPs, businesses, academic peers, honorary doctorates, policy advisors or the local community. You will identify and build relationships with key external stakeholders, be their first port of call and define the best ways to communicate with them across all a range of platforms to achieve awareness and build reputation. You will also identify and work with key internal stakeholders to identify and deliver communication tools that will assist them in their work to raise the reputation of, and income for, the university. Highly organised and calm under pressure, you will lead on delivering plans and projects in a timely fashion and ad hoc needs are managed with a clear sense of prioritisation, are brand led and of a high quality. Able to deal with staff and stakeholders at all levels, you will be as comfortable meeting senior governors or local councilors as chatting to a member of the local community about building plans. In particular you will ensure that our overall reputation and profile is enhanced, developing new plans to showcase our current and emerging strengths to drive reputation in the sector and our community. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The role has strategic oversight for developing effective relationships and engagement with key corporate stakeholders, including community partners, donors and supporters as well as regional bodies and organisations.

2 The post holder is responsible for developing and delivering a cohesive communications and engagement programme with stakeholders to include corporate and community events programme, corporate publications as well as bespoke stakeholder engagement. Stakeholder Engagement Identify key external stakeholders and create effective relationships that align with our strategy Act as the University s first port of call for community and stakeholder relations activities providing expert advice on approach and management of these important relationships Liaise with relevant external audiences including government administrators, local authorities, professional bodies, employers and members of the local community. Develop, manage and evaluate stakeholder engagement strategies/ plans to be in line with the University s marketing and communications strategy. Work with key internal stakeholders across the University to identify and shape opportunities for engagement by maximizing our activities and events, supported with corporate information and tools Initiate, research and prepare appropriate briefing information for senior management in advance of stakeholder meetings, conferences and presentations. Research and write speeches and presentations for senior management Events Management Lead and deliver an external stakeholder events strategy that is in line with the University s strategy Manage the delivery of a calendar of large and specific events, including regular project meetings and project time plans with all stakeholders Manage the allocated events budget and produce different budget options and track spending Advise and ensure all health and safety, risk management procedures are up to date and adhered to Communications and Content Project manage high level announcements (league tables) with other communication leaders to deliver efficient and targeted communications Lead and manage relevant University guides and statistics to ensure they are current and showcase our achievements. :Lead on the creation and production of key corporate publications such as the Graduation Gazette, Financial Statements, Annual Review and others where required Develop and build specific content, including working with copywriters to price stories and manage timelines and project scopes Work closely with designers to ensure all content is within brand guidelines Lead on brainstorming and creating relevant, engaging content in-line with the marketing and communication s strategy Manage the about us section of the website and ensure that it is regular refreshed with engaging and up to date information

3 Public Affairs and Community Relations Responsible for strengthening awareness of public affairs activity On hand to deliver crisis management when required Manage and support communications and stakeholder management with the media, Parliamentarians, Government Departments and the public. Lead projects to partner with advocacy and community groups Shape and improve relationships with key local stakeholders including the local council, business groups and residents groups Produce regular communications in both print and online for the local area; proactively promoting events and news of the University Development and scholarships Ensure all current and prospective donors to the University are stewarded appropriately to maximise their lifetime giving Formulate and implement a donor-driven approach to each solicitation that takes into account the donor s interests and motivations and matches them to appropriate fund raising projects. Contribute and help to maintain the University s prospect management system (Raisers Edge) which holds key data about current and prospective donors to help move forward their relationship with the University Ensure effective management of relationships with individuals, including excellent communication, fulfilment of all contractual agreements, and appropriate level recognition Work to develop and implement research plans to ensure that briefings and suitable cultivation plans are in place for all donors and prospects. Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication channels with all donors and prospective donors to the University, involving others within the University in building these relationships where appropriate. Develop and deliver donor events and visits to the University as appropriate. Manage gifts from donors promptly, carefully and efficiently, ensuring that monies are used in accordance with the purposes for which they have been given. Research/international reputation Create and shape communications that provide a coherent and engaging sense of our profile, reach and impact and reputation to include our growing research strengths, our academic and corporate partners and our overall areas of strength Create and produce relevant marketing tools such as printed publications to showcase research strengths to drive funding and reputation amongst academic peers Brand management and development Ensure the brand toolkit and tone of voice guidelines are followed and implemented in all copy and content creation, adhering to appropriate sign-off procedures accordingly

4 Budget management Budget responsibility for the Corporate Communications/stakeholder relations budget and Development budget, including the Development Fund, to include effective planning and management of the budgets. Line management Line management responsibility for the Corporate Communications Assistant and Events and Communications Coordinator to ensure effective management of workload, personal development and coaching of the Assistants. Reports The Corporate Communications Assistant will be the direct report of the Corporate Communications Manager.

5 Person Specification Job Title: Corporate Communications and Stakeholder Manager Campus: Hendon Selection Criteria: Essential Experience in a Marketing/Communications role in a large organisation Excellent communicator, well organised and proactive Forward thinking, with confidence to made decisions and work under pressure to meet challenging deadlines Excellent writing skills and evidence of outstanding copywriting skills in a brand led context with the ability to adapt writing to different channels and audiences Ability to translate strategy and insight into successful projects with a hands on approach Experience of creating and producing communications for web, print and social media and delivering successful and impact-led projects. Exceptional collaborator and relationship-building skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships across stakeholders internally and externally Events management experience Experience of integrated communications campaigns and an understanding of the basics of other corporate affairs disciplines such as public affairs and internal communications Strong time and project management skills People management skills and line management experience Desirable Experience of working in higher or further education or other sectors targeting similar audiences Hours: 35.5 hours per week 52 weeks per year, actual daily hours by arrangement Leave: 30 days per annum plus Bank Holidays plus 6 extra days to be taken in conjunction with Bank Holidays.
