2 BSO Business Matters June 2017 Page 2 CILT Success for PaLS Staff The Level 5 qualificaon required them to complete four modules in Leadership and Management, Supply-chain Management, Retail Logiscs and Project Management, supported by 12 classroom based masterclasses. These masterclasses were held within BSO premises at Boucher and organised by Head Tutor of the Naonal Instute of Retail Logiscs and Commerce (NIRTC), Mr Steven Brownlee. The hard work and dedicaon shown by these members of the Logiscs Team and the experse gained from their further study will benefit not only the operaon of the Logiscs funcon but our customers and the paents and clients that they care for. It can be extremely difficult for staff in full me posts, to embark on new studies as a mature student and the conflicng demands of work, study and home life, make these achievements all the more special and significant. They are indeed well earned and it is hoped that they inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Despite what the old adage says, you can t teach an old dog new tricks. Stephen Brownlee (NIRCT) and Jonathan Semple (Head of Logiscs) presented the students with their well-deserved cerficates and congratulated them on their achievement. We are very excited to announce that we are partnering up with Soma Analy(cs, an innovave and award-winning digital health start-up based in London. Together we are creang an interacve and acon-based project to raise awareness for mental resilience. We have all experienced stressful moments at work and at home, and as a result our sleep quality, or levels of wellbeing and energy have o@en suffered. Mental resilience is the ability to fully bounce back from stress and such moments, and is key to living a posive, happy, and healthy lifestyle, and being at our best. As a result of this partnership, we hope to both develop and support the growth of mental resilience of all our staff in BSO. As part of our health and wellbeing iniaves which we hope have/will deliver measurable improvements to employee mental resilience, Human Resources with SOMA Analycs are currently looking at making the Kelaa Mental Resilience smartphone app available to staff. We will keep you informed via and our intranet when we are approaching the launch date! Kelaa Mental Resilience is a smartphone app and Human Resources analycs dashboard. Kelaa is designed to install healthy habits for busy people and is therefore used for insight, through data and learning, via sessions of 1-2 mins a day, every day. How does Kelaa, Smart Phone App work? Once installed you complete a quesonnaire that measures current resilience levels. Kelaa has a selecon of goals you then choose from, depending on what you would like to focus on. From a good night's sleep to be=er producvity. You will then have a session a day, each linked to your goal to complete. At any me you can also track your sleep, providing real-me feedback on progress. (Con(nued on Next Page )

The inbuilt sleep tracker was developed in collaboraon with Guy s Hospital. The structure of Kelaa is based on behavioural change and health behaviour literature, and the sessions are designed based on concepts from published, peer reviewed (good quality) research. How do you know that the stress or mental health has improved? Through the inbuilt quesonnaire. When someone has completed a goal they will be asked to complete their quesonnaire again to track their results. They can see their results in the app under the review secon. Can anyone in HSC BSO track your use of the app whether it is for resilience, stress or for monitoring sleep? The smartphone app tracks resilience, stress, wellbeing and sleep. BSO Human Resources can see the aggregated data, via an HR dashboard which displays anonymised, aggregated informaon to provide trends and provide insight.
