1 Job description PR Manager P&O Cruises Job Title : PR Manager Department : Commercial/Marketing Reporting to (Job Title) : PR director No of Direct Reports : n/a Titles of Direct Reports: n/a Size of Department: 4 Budget Responsibility : n/a Revenue Responsibility : Date of issue: April Issued by (name): Michele Andjel Overall Purpose of Role : Support the PR director in the development and execution of stand-out creative PR plans in print, broadcast, social media and online with emphasis on online & print consumer presence Action core proactive and reactive media relations; press releases, press trip identification and arrangements Support PR director with strategic PR plans in line with commercial and corporate objectives. Update planning, campaign and PIR documents with PR activity results Generate creative ideas generating/writing/issuing of news releases and features Cultivate new media contacts across specialist online and print media Support head of PR with corporate/cuk issues and investor relations

2 Support the PR director to arrange media events to showcase news & brand experiences Oversee activities of PR executive & PR assistant as necessary Maintain and increase P&O Cruises coverage in traditional travel pages and extend into wider consumer/lifestyle press, including broadcast media Provide creative input for stand-out media relations activity across all media Increase product placement of P&O Cruises within target media/tv programmes Generate additional activity which will maintain & enhance P&O Cruises coverage eg via events and proactive feature story pitches Support the delivery of group press trips including hosting when required Support the delivery of one day media ship visits including hosting when required Implement and sell in ideas pro-actively to all media, online, print and broadcast Maintain POC as the authoritative voice within the industry Work together with the PR team to ensure that all activity is completed to a high standard, within deadlines and within budget Work with the PR team to ensure stringent budget and project management Support the PR director with incident, crisis & reputation management Deputise for PR director as necessary. Main Activities and Responsibilities People Management / Coaching / Development / Resourcing To provide day to day coaching and support to the PR executive To deputise for the head of PR as appropriate Budget Management / Financial Responsibilities / Revenue / Sales / Cost Management / Cost Control Exercise good planning and budget skills, to ensure all activities are within budget as agreed with the PR director Customer Responsibilities (Internal & External Customers) Act as a key point of contact in P&O Cruises press office

3 To build and maintain relationships with all key journalists produce and issue news releases/late availability/feature material/proactive story ideas To work with other departments across the business to support their activity through stand out creative PR/media relations To maintain and cultivate the existing and new network of media contacts in the department Communicate internally all P&O Cruises PR activities and events To be pro-active and develop/manage media events and creative media relations which support the brand pillars and commercial needs Crisis management support Generate creative ideas for PR coverage with three opportunities to view ie print/online/broadcast Support the PR director to produce strategic PR plans to generate create editorial coverage in key media titles, specialist, lifestyle, national consumer and trade press To be self-motivated, creative and able to work to strict deadlines Strategic analysis and implementation of annual PR plans Awareness of competitor activity Responsible for the campaign management of events/features/and issues to maintain and raise awareness of P&O Cruises in target media and in new media. Administration Responsibilities Monthly reports//evaluation reports/event management Technical PC literate Word/Excel/Powerpoint/ /Internet General Responsibilities Adheres to Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Code of Conduct, Audit Procedures and any control related responsibility for financial data entered, stored, or reported via business systems within employees control (list not exhaustive). To undertake ad hoc out of hours and weekend duties as required

4 Special Requirements (Equipment Used, External Contacts etc): Strong network of relevant media contacts Strong news release writing skills Understanding and experience of digital PR and its role in today s PR mix Knowledge of the travel industry Crisis management experience Additional responsibilities HESS Lead by example by taking care of the health and safety of yourself and others Report all accidents, near miss incidents and work related ill health conditions to your manager and to the Facilities department. Follow safety rules and procedures Use work equipment, personal protective equipment, substances, and safety devices correctly Take part in safety training & risk assessments and suggest ways of reducing risks. 6 Education, Qualifications and Training Educated to degree level A level qualifications to include English PR or journalism course/degree/diploma Experience Strong press release writing skills Understanding of digital PR Pro-active media relations stance/creativity Knowledge of the travel industry Excellent travel/lifestyle media contacts Experience of working with director level and above Experience of third party promotions/event management Crisis management experience Knowledge of the cruise industry in the UK/Europe Work Based Competencies Competencies that refer to the specific work related skills required for successful performance in the role.
