13 WELDING MIG WELDING Welding careers are hot! This course introduces Oxy / Acetylene and the safety equipment used in the process of Gas Metal Arc welding. 14 WELDING CONSTRUCTION PRE-PIPE The Construction Pre-Pipe Welding course provides instruction in Oxy-Acetylene Cutting, Basic and Advanced ARC Welding, and Basic and Advanced TIG Welding, allowing the student to complete training in a shorter amount of time, than if individual classes were taken in these three areas. The entire Construction Pre-Pipe Welding and Pipe Welding courses can be completed in approximately six to seven months, a much faster rate to good employment than the typical degree-seeking route. Pipe Welders in the nuclear industry have particularly bright prospects for wages, earning anywhere from $25 to $40 per hour. The ability to assess good work ethics and basic industry-specific skills, before making an investment in a new employee, can impact a company s bottom line significantly. Through its Employment Readiness Services, the Corporate and Workforce Development Division of FDTC provides training for entry-level employees that will create and sustain an ongoing pool of prospective candidates for area manufacturing and industry. FDTC s employment readiness programs allow business and industry to assess potential candidates for entry-level positions before they are hired and to extend job offers with the assurance that prospective employees have acquired skills and knowledge defined by the company. We work with you to define curricula and required skills for jobs, schedule the training, and provide staff and equipment for delivery of instruction.
