Local Authorities face unprecedented challenges and need to develop to continue playing a lead role in placemaking now and into the future. The session will also look at how HR can make a critical contribution to this transformation and we a key business partner in this shift. So why is it then that 80% of UK employees think their manager sets a bad example and 72% of UK organisations say they lack good management and leadership? In this seminar Ann Francke will uncover the key trends affecting management and leadership and the impact it is having on UK businesses. She will then outline the 5 easy steps that all managers can undertake to give themselves a Management Makeover and start achieving through managing and leading well. Julie will firstly introduce Gary Browning the Chief Executive of Penna PLC who will set out his thoughts on the future issues in people development and for HR professionals gained from his many years of experience of working with private and public sector HR leaders. Julie will then introduce Roy Vella who is a leading futurologist specialising in how technology and mobile devices in particular are rapidly shifting customer and employee expectations. Employment Law session for PPMA 8.30 a.m 9.15 a.m The presentation will consider the legislative changes introduced since the 2014 PPMA Conference and examine further proposed changes, particularly the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill. It will consider the evolving nature of the employment deal over the years and encourage delegates to consider what councils will need to do to ensure they can attract and retain talent and create workplace practices and cultures for the next generation of workers. We are drowning in a digital deluge where the haze of information and devices vie for our attention to the point where they are beginning to remove us from the real world.
