No Section 1: Purpose To support the development and delivery of innovative Strategic Plans for regulated products, services and/or assets informed by customer insights, balancing cost and risk. Portfolios: Collection Product Portfolio - including Wastewater, Storm Water and Waste Recovery Products Supply Product Portfolio - includes Potable Water, Recycled Water and Energy Management Supply Asset Portfolio - includes Water Filtration Plants, Water Storage, Water Pumping and Water Reticulation Collection Asset Portfolio - includes Ww Treatment & Storm Water Plants, Ww Pumping and Ww Reticulation Asset and equipment reliability portfolio - includes Civil Structures, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Linear Equipment Servicing Strategy portfolio includes all regulated products and services Page 1 of 6

2 Section 2: Key accountabilities and outcomes/tasks Technical accountabilities Support the development of Strategic Plans for Sydney Water relating to the relevant portfolio. Support the co-creation of integrated Strategic Plans that deliver customer focused commercial outcomes for SW ensuring trade-offs are considered Contribute to development and implementation of Management System Frameworks across the organisation, Defines, develops and reviews the long, medium and short term strategic outcomes are delivered through Policy, Position Statements, Strategic Plans and Specifications for the relevant portfolio Participate in Risk Assessments to ensure key issues and opportunities are identified and managed through appropriate strategies. Monitor, evaluate and report the performance, effectiveness and benefits realisation against the Strategic Plans and Specifications Incorporate R&D and technology related to product, asset and service Strategic Plans. Support the development of the 5-year strategic improvement plans; understands the requirements and performance across the system, and adjusts strategy to ensure requirements are being met. Support procurement processes to corporate guidelines and ensure value for money Participate in and support incident management where needed. Develop, manage and utilise tools to support the decision making processes when developing strategy. Scan the market for emerging issues and opportunities and provides pre-emptive response within strategy Support other areas of the business regarding strategic issues. Provide expert advice and technical knowledge to support strong customer communications and engagement. Programming accountabilities Works collaboratively across Sydney Water to develop and implement the agreed Strategic Plans Works collaboratively with Customer Direction & Experience to obtain customer insight from Customers, Community, Regulators, Government and Business Stakeholder in the strategy development process to understand and define the outcomes and requirements, including levels of service, willingness to pay, and performance requirements, and ensure their needs are incorporated (in line with customer/stakeholder engagement framework) and support the delivery of business outcomes to achieve the corporate strategy. Within the appropriate corporate engagement frameworks, support engagement with regulators and stakeholders (including management of MOUs, regulatory reporting, strategic /tactical /operational discussions to influence outcomes, such as NSW Health, DPI, EPA, IPART, GSC, focus forums) Demonstrate safe and well behaviours and understand safety accountabilities Contribute to high performance. Demonstrate Sydney Water s Values and Behaviours and create a constructive and supporting working environment. Customers & Community Regulators and Govt Agencies including Treasury, IPART, Fire Service and similar Peak Bodies including WSAA, AWA, Asset Management Council and similar Section 4: Capability Knowledge, skills and experience Basic knowledge Formal education required. Tertiary qualification in engineering, science, business or a related discipline or experience deemed equivalent. Skills Specific skills, software packages or licences required to perform the position and at what level. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills at all levels both internal and external to the organisations. Strong analytical skills to identify issues, trends, drivers and links to customer/ regulatory needs. Demonstrated ability to interact, build relationships both internal and external to the Organisation. Basic understanding of quality/cost/risk trade-offs with a lens on short, medium and long term outcomes. Page 4 of 6

5 Basic skills in risk management, financial and economic analysis and using/developing related tools in decision making Experience Experience needed for the position. Experience across relevant products/asset classes and integrated water cycle management Basic project management experience Experience working in high performing teams in a positive and constructive environment. Knowledge of Sydney Water s operating and regulatory environment. Additional knowledge and skills Desirable knowledge, skills or experience needed for the position. Community engagement experience, engaging community/customer groups into shaping strategy and direction for Sydney Water Demonstrated experience dealing with customer, regulators and stakeholder groups.
