System Network; Whānau On-line Services Financial Business as agreed, Company Directorship Wellington About Te Kohanga Reo Trust Board Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust Board was established in 1982 and formalised as a charitable trust in The Mission of the Trust is the protection of te reo, tikanga me ngā āhuatanga Māori by targeting the participation of mokopuna and whānau into the Kōhanga Reo movement and its vision is to totally immerse Kōhanga mokopuna in te reo, tikanga me ngā āhuatanga Māori. Since the opening of the first kōhanga reo in 1982 the organisation has made a significant contribution to the revitalisation of te reo Māori and mokopuna and whānau development. There are more than 460 Kōhanga Reo across the New Zealand with nearly 9000 mokopuna enrolled. The Trust Board, as the governing body, has therefore had a key role in providing the support needed by Kōhanga Reo. This support has involved specific investment in mokopuna, whānau, and their cultural infrastructure of language, kinship, relationship management, whānau learning, and whānau decisionmaking. Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust is implementing a culture in the workplace that reflects Health and Safety awareness for all; according to the Health and Safety Act Position Purpose Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer this position is part of the Strategic Leadership Group and manages the Corporate Services Team. The Strategic Leadership Group implements the strategic direction as set by the Board. The role must contribute to the strategy by developing business plans for the Corporate Services Team. The Pou Pākihi Matua is a key position responsible for future sustainability of the business. There is a significant amount of scope for the Pou Pākihi Matua to innovate and seek new business opportunities to enhance the Kōhanga Reo Kaupapa. A component of the role is the financial responsibilities which include asset optimisation and operational effectiveness. Transformational leadership is a concept where the leader is able to work with their team to make each other advance to a higher level of morality and motivation. Through the strength of their vision and personality, transformational leaders are able to inspire their team to change expectations, perceptions, and motivations to work towards common goals. The Pou Pākihi Matua should be an exmplar and strive

2 to provider transformational leadership that promotes a positive change culture within the Corporate Services Team. The Pou Pākihi Matua has overall responsibility for the ICT division including property and whānau online services. The Pou Pākihi Matua fosters high performance from the Corporate Services Team The Pou Pākihi Matua will also have responsibility as Executive Director of Te Pataka Ohanga a subsidiry of Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust Board. Te Pataka Ohanga manages services like insurance, scholarships, grants and Mokopuna Oranga Pumau (health care). Customer service is a key function of this team to the organisation and its business; this includes the provision of support to newly developed Whānau online service facility which will provide front line services. The team will provide a range of specialised services such as technologies and accounting systems. Customer service isn t restricted to external customers but considers the other internal team s part of their customer care portfolio. The team provides services that support the infrastructure and optimising the systems and processes used internally. The Pou Pākihi Matua is expected to provide daily updates on all financial business development, company progress, and system and/or whānau online service issues; as appropriate. Where there is a need to elevate matters of risk to the organisation and its business this must be treated as a priority on a no-surprises basis. Business Group Purpose The Strategic Leadership Group is responsible for building efficiency and effectiveness throughout the organisation. To ensure the leadership structure is well maintained, members of this team will be forward looking thinkers who are highly skilled and capable of working at a strategic level. The Pou Pākihi Matua will be able to provide well considered advice and support on a range of service deliverables and organisational growth. Lead commercial intiatives that explore potential revenue sources and new income streams. Develop and implement a programme of enhancing core business management processes including but not limited to: Budget development and annual resource allocation plans prepared. Providing timely financial reports that enable teams in managing their financial outcomes and enables the board to make effective decisions. Enhanced board reporting. Proactively manage cashflow. Maintaing and improving effective and consistent financial management systems, policies, standards and reporting requirements including: Ensuring all financial risk and exposure is prudently managed. Ensuring insurance coverate is taken out; and management of all insurance claims. Ensuring the Finance team provides efficient and effective transactional processing services within the required standards. the corporate services team to articulate the vision and purpose of the trust in all of their communications. Has open and honest communiation with others. Models customer focus to corporate services team. Complete annual performance appraisals on time. Administer a sound recruitment process attracting high performing applicants. Implement a high performance programme within the customer service team. Regularly audit workstations and the office environment to ensure health and safety requirements are met. Report monthly on people management to the Chief Executive. New income streams created. The financial systems are effective and efficient and reviewed regularly. Regular audit reports do not identify any risk or inconsistencies.

Manage Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust information systems and IT networking environment including: Develop and implement an IT strategy. Maintain effective information system. Recommend changes to IT systems to advance the efficiency and effectiveness of the systems. Lead the continual refinement of smarter systems, centralised information, and increased financial and operational performance. Champion high performance. Identify any areas for improvement within the operations and implement well considered changes to improve effectiveness. Oversee the application of best practice standards in financial management, human resources, information communication technology, centralised administion, effective information management and business system management. Ensure all decisions are based on evidence and sound research. Is able to provide attention to detail to all aspects of a task or process. Personal Attributes A strong people leader with an- engaging leadership style and a genuine focus on the development of staff. Credibility with the ability to maintain relationships with key stakeholders and influence at an executive and board level. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
