3 Letter from the Governor and LTG Dear Statesmen and Stateswomen of the Southeast State, Everyday, this generation is referred to as one that cannot make change. This generation is referred to as just kids. The Junior State of America aims to combat this stigma by showing that kids are the change that this country needs. JSA allows all of us the opportunity to voice our opinions in a safe environment, teaches us essential leadership skills, and helps us develop everlasting relationships. JSA is more than just a place for teenagers to come and discuss politics. JSA is a home. It s a home for kids just like us to show that they are the generation that can move mountains using something as simple as their voice. Today, with this application, I pose to you a John F. Kennedy inspired challenge. Ask no more of what JSA can do for you. Ask what you can do for JSA. There are so many different ways to make the Southeast a stronger state than it has been in the past. Simply applying for cabinet shows your willingness to improve this state, and shows that you have the drive to fight apathy and to use the power of your voice. Cabinet allows you to have a direct hand in what occurs in our Southeast State and in what impacts your JSA experience. But most of all, applying for cabinet shows that you care. It shows that you are willing to make sacrifices in order to better the experiences of others, and to ensure that the organization we all love so dearly is operating to its highest potential. With all this being said, understand that cabinet is also a huge honor, but also a huge responsibility. Cabinet has taken a huge downsize from the previous year, so all cabinet members are expected to complete all assignments delegated to them in a punctual manner, a manner in hard, diligent efforts are reflected. This is a critical time for our democracy. JSA is a home for America s youth to harmonize, rather than polarize. All those who wish to become an integral part in helping shape the face of this country s democracy, I encourage you to apply to join the Southeast cabinet. Together, we will become the generation that can. Cordially, Matthew Jenkins Southeast State Governor Brian Carlos Southeast State Lieutenant Governor
