Some of the topics covered include: Events and Incidents that may impact your business How to protect your business Developing a Business Continuity Program Identifying and ranking business processes Developing a recovery strategy Documenting a plan Organising emergency resources Communicating the plan Testing and maintaining the plan Senior and line managers. NIBA ACCREDITED: 1 CPD Point ANZIIF APPROVED: 1 CIP Point An Introduction to Return to Work Coordination Accredited by WorkCover NSW NSW only 2 days This training session has been developed to provide the information and skills for Return to Work Coordinators to support employers and facilitate successful return to work of injured workers. Topics covered include: Overview of injury management concepts Components of an employers return to work program Role of the return to work coordinator Working with key stakeholders, including doctors, rehabilitation and treatment providers Role of the insurer premiums and claims management Benefits for injured workers Developing a return to work plan Dispute prevention and resolution Resources All organisations with a base tariff premium greater than $50,000 (category 1 employer) are legally required under the Workers Compensation (Workplace Rehabilitation Program) Regulation 1997 to employ a designated return to work coordinator, to ensure the effective rehabilitation and return to work of each injured worker. Category 2 employers (base tariff premium less than $50,000) who would like a better understanding of the workers compensation system, in particular how to reduce the impact of claims on premiums. $400 pp for QBE policy holders $450 pp for non QBE policy holders NIBA ACCREDITED: 10 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 12 CIP Points Manual Handling Risk Assessment This training session will provide guidance on conducting risk assessments and the formulation of effective manual handling controls. Participants will gain an understanding of manual handling regulations, basic body mechanics and the potential for injury, the manual handling risk assessment process and correct manual handling lifting techniques. This short course is suitable for line managers, supervisors, OH&S committee members or representatives, or anyone seeking to expand their knowledge in this field. Role of the Return to Work Coordinator Approved by WorkSafe Victoria Victoria only 2 days This training session has been developed to provide the information and skills for Return to Work Coordinators to support employers and facilitate the successful return to work of injured workers. Learn about the functions and requirements of a Return to Work Coordinator. Develop the skills required, including: How to coordinate the return to work of an injured worker and how to complete effective return to work plans How to monitor return to work to ensure its success and sustainability How to communicate effectively with injured workers and others involved in the return to work process This course targets any employer with claim(s) exceeding three weeks incapacity. Employers with remuneration of more than $1 million and with average claims performance. Return to Work Consultants providing service to small employers and HR managers are also encouraged to attend. $200 pp for QBE policy holders $250 pp for non QBE policy holders NIBA ACCREDITED: 10 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 12 CIP Points OH&S, Workers Compensation and Return to Work Provides an understanding of QBE Connect and best practice guidelines on prevention, claims management and return to work. This course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the cost implications of claims, management strategies, return to work and OH&S. All employers, but specifically designed for senior and line managers. A Quick Guide to Workers Compensation Claims An introduction to the workers compensation scheme, the basics of claims management, rehabilitation and return to work responsibilities for employers. Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of employers and workers in the event of a claim, understanding what is compensable under the Act, calculating average weekly earnings and understanding rehabilitation and return to work. This short course is ideal for those with little, or no knowledge of the workers compensation scheme.

Learn about the premium cycle, calculation, billing and penalties. This course will also cover any amendments introduced in the current policy year. Newly registered employers and those seeking an overview of how premium is calculated. Company finance and payroll staff are encouraged to attend, as well as accountants, workers compensation consultants and intermediaries. NIBA ACCREDITED: 2 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 2 CIP Points Incident Notification and Investigation Provides strategies and processes for accident investigation, notifiable incidents and effective communication strategies for the workplace. Participants will learn about the importance of accident investigation, identifying the multiple causes of accidents in the workplace and implementing procedures for accident investigation. This short course is suitable for line managers, supervisors, OH&S committee members or representatives, or anyone seeking to expand their knowledge in this field. Initial Level OH&S for Health and Safety Representatives, Managers and Supervisors Victoria only 5 days QBE is working in conjunction with the Service Industry Advisory Group (SIAG) Learning Links offering the 5 day OH&S representative course to HSR s and Deputy HSR s across a range of industries. The program is interactive, informative and gives an understanding of the OH&S imperatives of this role. The program is endorsed by WorkSafe Victoria. Some of the topics covered include: OH&S legislation, codes and standards Identifying, assessing and controlling hazards present in the workplace Workplace inspections Assessing risks Investigating injuries, illnesses and incidents Effective OH&S communication Keeping and maintaining basic health and safety records OH&S representatives, managers and supervisors. Invitations are also extended to return to work coordinators and members of an accident investigation team. $715 pp (GST incl) Accredited OH&S Consultation NSW only 4 days OH&S representatives and committee members will learn about the role of OH&S consultation in the workplace and apply a systematic management approach to health and safety. Workplace health and safety (background, cost and legislation) The role of OH&S consultation in the workplace Effective OH&S consultation in the workplace Systematic management of health and safety Continuous improvement of OH&S systems Under the NSW Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000, all members of workplace OH&S committees and OH&S representatives must be trained. Suitable for line managers, supervisors and OH&S committee members and representatives. Invitations are also extended to return to work coordinators and members of any accident investigation team. In addition, the course is also suitable for persons involved in other agreed (consultative) arrangements. The successful completion of this course satisfies these requirements. $550 pp for QBE policy holders $600 pp for non QBE policy holders NIBA ACCREDITED: 10 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 12 CIP Points Training Modules for Cross Border Return To Work Coordinators (NSW, VIC, QLD) Additional training modules have been developed for multi-state employers with Return To Work [RTW] Coordinators managing return to work plans for injured workers in more than one state. In 2007, NSW, Victoria and Queensland workers compensation authorities agreed on a training criteria for RTW Coordinators producing an add-on training module(s) for each states existing RTW training program. The modules are designed to assist trained RTW Coordinators to understand legislative and operational requirements in all participating states. This initiative enables RTW Coordinators to simply attend a state formal course and complete one or two state modules at their own pace covering legislation in the other states. COMPLETING THE ADDITIONAL MODULES Completing the additional training is simple. QBE has two options available, choose between face to face training or self assessment online module. $100 per module pp for QBE policy holders and intermediary partners $200 per module pp for non QBE policy holders NIBA ACCREDITED: 3.5 CPD Points per module ANZIIF APPROVED: 3.5 CIP Points per module

Learn the skills required to conduct risk assessments and to improve OH&S in the workplace. A National Summary To Workers Compensation This course will provide participants an overview of the various workers compensation schemes across Australia, specifically NSW, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia, ACT, Northern Territory and Tasmania. It will include the legislative differences and similarities for the lodging of claims, rehabilitation and return to work responsibilities for multi-state employers. Participants will learn about key features of the schemes for each state and territory, including legal obligations, basic claims management processes, return to work, dispute resolution, rights and responsibilities of employers and workers and cross border arrangements. All multi-state or national employers with responsibility for managing workers compensation in more than one jurisdiction. OHS Consultation Refresher [NEW] This 1 day course is available in NSW only This course has been developed to provide a refresher update to existing OHS committee members and OHS representatives who have completed the mandatory 4 day accredited training in OHS Consultation. It will enable participants to identify areas of continuous improvement to ensure effective operation of the committee or other consultative arrangements. Legislative update Systematic management of OHS Effectiveness of current consultation process Action plan for continuous improvement Existing OHS committee members and OHS representatives who have completed the mandatory 4 day accredited training in OHS Consultation. Invitations are also extended to those involved in other agreed consultative arrangements in the workplace, line managers and supervisors. $200 pp for QBE clients. $250 pp for non QBE clients. NIBA ACCREDITED: 5 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 6 CIP Points Advanced Return to Work Coordination (Accredited by WorkCover NSW) [NEW] This one day course is available in NSW only This course is designed to improve the knowledge, skills and capacity of experienced & accredited Return to Work [RTW] coordinators to facilitate an effective RTW for more complex cases. Managing complex cases - suitable duties Strategic case management Managing complex claims - disputed claims Negotiation skills Options for permanent partial incapacity Summary It is a pre-requisite that participants have obtained their accreditation for the NSW Introduction to Return to Work Coordination course and have at least 6 months experience in the role. $250 pp for QBE clients. $300 pp for non QBE clients. NIBA ACCREDITED: 5 CPD Points ANZIIF APPROVED: 6 CIP Points OH&S Refresher for Health and Safety Representatives, Managers and Supervisors [NEW] This one day course is available in VIC only WHAT WILL COURSE PROVIDE? 10 2010 Course Descriptions Preventing and Managing Occupational Stress [NEW] This course is available in WA only Stress workers compensation claims are notoriously difficult to manage and cost twice as much as the average claims costs for all other types of claims. Stress related workers compensation claims have also increased by nearly 60% since 2000 and it is now the third most common disease resulting in serious claims. Stress prevention can be achieved by taking a risk management approach. This training package will enable you to identify psychosocial hazards, assess the risks of these hazards to your organisation, and most importantly, eliminate or minimise these risks. By taking a proactive approach to stress, you will see improvements in staff morale, staff engagement, job satisfaction and productivity. In the event that a workers compensation claim for stress does arise, we will arm you with the tools to effectively manage the claim to ensure timely return to work outcomes and reduced claims costs.
