1 Mesa Public Schools- User Classifications Mesa Public Schools fee structure is based on the user s organization and related activities. Description: Groups that directly support the school/district. Class I: Designated School-Related Groups Examples: PTOs, booster clubs, student music associations, employee associations, Fed/State Gov t; City of Mesa (per IGA), and other groups at the Principal s discretion. Fees: out-of-pocket expenses only. Class II: Federal, State or Local Government Agencies Description: Government agencies using school facilities for public meetings or other limited activities on an occasional and sporadic basis. The City of Mesa may use District facilities according to the terms and conditions established in the Intergovernmental Agreement between Mesa Unified School District #4 of Maricopa County and the City of Mesa, effective September 25, 2003 (the Mesa IGA ). Fees: out-of-pocket expenses only Class III: Youth Organizations (Non-Profit) Description: Non-profit organizations that do not meet Class One or Class Two definition. Proof of non-profit organization status is required. Examples: Boy/Girl Scouts, YMCA, Metro Youth Symphony, NYS, i9 Sports, East Valley Children s Theatre, and City of Mesa community group activities organizations (per IGA) Class IV: Public Colleges/Universities Description: Any public colleges or universities that use District facilities to offer course instruction. Fees: Rental fees as outlined in Fee Schedule, out-of-pocket expenses Fees: Rental fees as outlined in Fee Schedule, out-ofpocket expenses Class V: Any Group of Person Not Qualifying for I-IV Description: Any organization that does not fall under the previous 4 classifications. 6 Out-Of Of-Pocket Fees Beginning in the school year, state law will no longer permit Mesa Public Schools to increase its operations budget for additional utility costs. School districts are required by state law to recover out-of of-pocket expenses that occur as a result of the community s use of facilities. User classifications II, III, IV and V will pay utility expenses according to the following schedule when facilities are used on days when school is not is session, i.e. weekends, holidays and summer. 7 Additional Fees/Information Permits / Rental Requests Rental request should be made 30 days in advance. Insurance A person or organization that uses or rents school facilities must provide proof of liability insurance and comply with all applicable policies and regulations for community use of school facilities. The Governing Board requires the renter to have in force $500,000 Liability and 10,000 Property Damage insurance coverage with the Mesa Unified School District #4 named as an Addition Insured as required in ARS (D). This requirement applies to all rental groups including those co-sponsoring activities with the District in school facilities. Non-Profit Status All Class Three organizations must provide proof of non-profit status. Payment Deadline Per Governing Board Policy, all fees are due at least 7 days prior to the event. A non-refundable deposit of $500 or the actual rental rate, whichever is lower, may be required of commercial or profit making organizations using an auditorium, gymnasium or cafeteria to ensure their reservation. A $2,500 damage deposit may be required for use involving a high school s stadium or the track or playing field within the stadium area to ensure proper care is taken in use of the facility. Educational Equipment/Material Usage Fees Additional, per student fees, may be charged for courses requiring specialized equipment. Those fees will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the exact equipment or materials needed. Pools Pools are managed by the City of Mesa. Please contact the City to inquiry about rental rates and availability. Pools used by the City of Mesa Community Groups are charged at $100 per participant, per calendar year. Field Lighting Lights are separately billed through the City of Mesa or Chandler, as applicable. Tennis Courts Tennis Courts at the junior high school are first-come, first-served. Courts may not be reserved without prior approval from the School Principal. Page 7 of 7
