OPENING DATE: 02/12/19 CLOSING DATE: 02/17/19 THE POSITION SALARY $153, Annually Court Bureau Chief Unclassified Position in the Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Court Departments Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or related degree; Master's degree or Juris Doctor preferred. Eight years of relative, professional experience in senior or executive management in private, government or justice administration; and eight years of supervision at the executive level. Specific License or Certification Required: None required. GCIC, Six Sigma, Certified Public Manager (CPM), Project Management Professional (PMP) or Executive Leadership Certificates are preferred. Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities: Expertise in the area of bureau assignment. Principles and practices of business/public administration and municipal government; Methods and techniques used to conduct public administrative research and present research reports; Laws and regulations governing municipal operations and local courts, specifically Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Courts; Federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to county

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED BY THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT Purpose: The Courts Bureau Chief serves as the principal assistant to the Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Court for matters related to supervision, planning and management of all court operations of the Clerk's Office. Among other duties, the Bureau Chief is primarily responsible for: the efficient delivery of court case administration for superior and magistrate courts, including electronic case filing; courtroom services, including criminal and civil case initiations and jail hearings; preparing court appellant records; and overseeing the day-to-day operations of judicial support for both superior and magistrate courts. Essential Functions: The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Duties include the day-to-day management of assigned functional areas; project development and management; enforcement and development of appropriate policies, plans, and procedures; supervision and mentoring of supervisors and staff, budget projection, development and execution; public services; court technology; court training and administration; long range and short term strategic planning, and application of the Official Code of Georgia, Clerk Rules and Policies and County policies and procedures; and other duties as assigned. Managing and supervising staff; Organizing and prioritizing work; Developing and managing budgets; Coordinating work efforts among a broad range of justice agencies, spectrum of disciplines and divisions; Learning Justice programs problems, and the resources available to resolve justice and Court Administration/Clerk problems, including judges and law enforcement agencies; Preparing and presenting effective oral and written communication; Organizing and coordinating the efforts of several Judicial departments and functions with other governmental, law enforcement or private agencies to accomplish program goals and objectives; Analyzing various administrative, operational, fiscal, and social/justice problems and making sound recommendations for solutions; Developing working procedures and programs; Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other County personnel, officials, and the general public; Communication and interpersonal techniques as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. Must communicate at multiple levels in government to engage and influence front line employees as well as elected officials and department heads. To convene and engage leaders, staff and community members so that they take an active role in conversations about the present and future of the justice system and its impact on the community. Translate and interpret bureaucratic challenges, budget difficulties, opportunities and the nature of the work so that employees, citizens and elected officials understand their role in helping stakeholders make a difference in the lives of others.

3 Page 3 of 6 Ability to engage others in discussing their values, aspirations and goals and those they hold for the organization or the community and implement these into plans of actions. Act as a leader to commit to the general enterprise, key initiatives, and success of each other as bureau chiefs through teamwork, influence and collaboration. Engage stakeholders and community members in the social justice issues of the day, while maintaining considerations for following the values, ideas, and needs articulated by others with a certain humility and vulnerability in addition to any traditional toughness and forcefulness.
