We're looking for someone with critical thinking skills, intellectual honesty, strong proficiency in listening and communicating, an interest in government, and the desire to make a difference. As a senior internal auditor, you'll provide independent professional internal audit services and management consultation to agency executives by planning, leading and managing performance audits that analyze a wide variety of program and policy functions, agency business systems, and missioncritical operations to improve agency performance, transparency, and accountability. Our office is uniquely positioned to analyze issues across the department and our results are reported to the highest level policy decision makers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys learning. It offers exposure to a wide variety of areas and disciplines. Auditors meet management and staff at all levels of the organization and make field visits to become familiar with ODOT operations. In addition, the office pays for continuing professional education. The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at an internal auditor 2 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an internal auditor 1 ($46,872 - $65,952 annually) to apply, as we may consider under-filling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for an internal auditor 2. Under-fill training will not exceed two years. We also encourage current graduate students who will be graduating by June 30, 2018 to apply. This position is part of the state's management team. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Your responsibilities will include: Conducting performance audits in accordance with generally accepted government auditing standards. Conducting preliminary survey work to develop audit objectives that will result in useful information to improve operations. Researching legal and administrative requirements, professional standards, and best practices to develop audit criteria. Planning and managing audits to achieve audit objectives within assigned resources. Obtaining sufficient evidence to fulfill audit objectives and support audit findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Coordinating, assigning and reviewing the work of other auditors. Developing findings that are fully supported and documented by working papers. Drafting written reports, including graphics and other exhibits that clearly and concisely present complex audit analysis and results. Making persuasive oral and written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of the audit. Advising management on a variety of operational and programmatic issues as requested. Coordinating with external auditors to minimize duplication of work and to provide requested assistance. Working Conditions Incumbent is expected to meet continuing education hours required by Government Auditing Standards. Occasional travel statewide to ODOT sites, contractor offices and training locations. QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIRED & REQUESTED SKILLS: Internal Auditor 2 Minimum Qualifications You will need: A bachelor's degree in a business-related field such as business or public administration, finance, economics, computer science, accounting or a field specific to the agency's mission or area of audit and two years of auditing experience. A graduate-level degree in any of the areas defined under education may substitute for one year of auditing experience. 2/6
