Phi Chi Theta Strategic Plan This plan has been developed by the executive board members in order to provide a disciplined approach to the management Phi Chi Theta Alpha Iota Chapter over the academic year.

National Phi Chi Theta History: Phi Chi Theta is a National Coeducational Professional Fraternity in Business and Economics. Phi Chi Theta was founded on June 16, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. The founders were six women from two of the competing business fraternities, Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Kappa Epsilon. These women joined forces to form an organization whose purpose is: To promote the cause of higher business education and training for all individuals, to foster high ideals for everyone pursuing a career in business; to encourage fraternity and cooperation among people preparing for such careers; and to stimulate the spirit of sacrifice and unselfish devotion to the attainment of such ends. Today, the Phi Chi Theta National Chapter is comprised of 40 Collegiate and Alumni Chapters. Phi Chi Theta has over 20,000 members across the country. The National Chapter is the governing body of Phi Chi Theta and consists of the duly elected National Officers and National Delegates. The National Officers are deemed the Executive Council, and have the authority to administer the affairs of the Fraternity during the interim between Biennial National Chapter Meetings. Phi Chi Theta is a member of and is affiliated with the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA), and the College Fraternity Editors Association (CFEA)l Background Information: Phi Chi Theta (PCT) is a Co-Ed Professional Business and Economics Fraternity at Penn State University. Our fraternity focuses on three pillars: Professional, Philanthropy, and Social. The fraternity provides brothers and sisters the opportunity to gain workplace experience, in efforts to further their knowledge of the business world, as well as network with major corporations through events and our extensive and successful alumni community. Phi Chi Theta is dedicated to giving back to others and is involved in the

Penn State Dance Marathon, as well as many other community services. The fraternity provides the opportunity to build lasting friendships within Phi Chi Theta, as well as the advantage of socializing with other organizations. The members, also known as brothers, of Phi Chi Theta are actively involved in other student organizations at Penn State and in Smeal specifically. These external relationships help to build the credibility, ambition, networking opportunities and professionalism within our fraternity. Mission Statement: Because the bylaws of our organization have been pre-determined by our national governing chapter, our mission has already been defined as so: Be it known that the mission of Phi Chi Theta, a national professional fraternity, is to provide an opportunity to develop and practice those professional leadership skills and abilities necessary to succeed in the business community; provide a local and national network to share resources, ideas and concepts; instill in its membership those values, codes, and creeds which will enable participation in a rapidly changing world; and enable members to develop the business astuteness necessary to achieve high esteem and success in their chosen fields. We shape and apply this mission in order to achieve our vision while simultaneously abiding by our national standards. In everyday language, our members would say that our mission is to constantly strive for a complete balance and submersion of our three pillars: Professional, Philanthropic and Social. Values: Professionalism, friendship, family, philanthropy, brotherhood, achievement, aspiration, tact, education, networking, creativity, selflessness, equality.

These positions include Brotherhood, Corporate Relations, THON, Rush, Fundraising, Philanthropy, Special Events, Marketing, and Alumni Relations. Each Director position has 2-3 chair positions under them to plan and coordinate our events throughout each semester. Organizational Vision: The vision of Phi Chi Theta is to equally create a professional development environment that is also safe and enjoyable for our members. We strive to balance our three pillars of Professional, Philanthropic and Social providing means for a meaningful experience in each. The environments in which our organization lives are at Penn State, in Smeal, in other colleges, in THON, in the Business Fraternity Council, in Phi Chi Theta on a national level, in Pennsylvania and surrounding states and in the aspiring professional work realm. Though many changes have occurred at Penn State and in Smeal over the past 3-5 years, Phi Chi Theta has remained unwaveringly strong. The competition for our

organization has grown immensely. This I believe makes us better off, however, it will be a challenge to keep up with this growth. Due to proposed size limitations, our members must be tactical when recruiting and granting membership into the fraternity to ensure that we continually have the strongest members. Goals: -To work with teams to constantly be excited to plan and execute new and unique events; to have them create timelines that will be closely followed -To realize the importance of branding ourselves as a unique organization during recruitment -To have all members involved in fraternity processes at all time, whether they hold a chair or not; tracked by attendance -To encourage open lines of communications between general members and the executive board; implemented through smaller group meetings periodically -Continue to revamp the rush process to ensure the most exposure is happening between brothers and rushes. -With sanctions being placed on IFC and Panhel, planning for a large fall rush class is imperative. -Increase presence on campus by engaging other student organizations. -Continue to find ways of engaging the brotherhood to retain chapter attendance -Host professional events that better suit the general brotherhood
