2 Business Process Analyst Business Change Team, Strategy and Planning Do you want to join a small yet influential team and play a pivotal role in supporting senior leaders deliver our ambitious strategic plan? Do you thrive on working in a complex environment? Can you provide specialist process management and leadership skills to facilitate and deliver transformational organisational and behavioural change in this world-class organisation? With an ability to navigate political and organisational issues, you will work closely with the relevant project and programme teams on a range of complex and multifaceted business initiatives. You will collaborate with other Business Process Analysts and Business Analysts across the University to help shape a process management methodology and apply this to strategic initiatives. Working with limited supervision, you will be able to balance priorities, deal with complex academic and financial information and work collaboratively with others. Your ability to organise, coach, evaluate, plan and implement improvements is critical to succeed. What does the role entail? As a Business Process Analyst, your main duties will include: Identifying, analysing, mapping and documenting core as-is business processes, measuring process performance in terms of effectiveness, resource requirement and cost; Delivering detailed to-be business processes, rules and work flows in designing all new processes, highlighting and documenting improved ways of working; Working collaboratively with project teams and business leads to identify customer segments and customer requirements for processes; Supporting the implementation and embedding of all new processes across the initiatives. Defining the impact on KPIs and the performance of future processes, identifying the value being delivered and how it could be evaluated

3 and measured on an on-going basis; Identifying alternative solutions, conduct gap analysis and assess feasibility and impact; Recommending and applying process improvement approaches in line with the needs of the business; Consulting with senior managers, directors and key stakeholders in developing the in-house understanding of process methodologies; Facilitating workshops with a diverse range of stakeholders to reach collaborative solutions; Identifying and making recommendations based on lessons learnt for future developments, acting as an internal consultant to provide objective guidance and advice to senior management; Planning for and managing the human impact of change ensuring a smooth transition to business as usual and minimising disruption through effective and appropriate change management techniques; Contributing to the development of change management skills throughout the University through sharing best practice; coaching and supporting other colleagues across the university and seeking opportunities to raise the profile of the team through these development opportunities; Developing and maintaining a high level of knowledge of the latest developments within the University of Leeds, the HE sector, and best practice in process and change management in order to provide advice and guidance on a range of issues within the University. These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post. What will you bring to the role? As a Business Process Analyst you will have: Significant experience as a Business Process Analyst or Business Analyst including experience of developing business requirements and of

4 understanding, shaping and applying process methodology to large and complex strategic initiatives; Consultative and facilitative leadership skills with experience in leading and facilitating workshops; A strong understanding of how to effect change through people and experience of influencing soft change, a diplomatic and constructive approach and the ability to work with others, coaching and sharing best practice to achieve positive outcomes and bring people along with you; Strong problem solving and analytical capability, confidence in dealing with complex financial, performance, strategy and organisational information and skills in process mapping and business process reengineering; A good understanding of Higher Education and the ability to quickly develop and maintain strong internal networks across a complex organisation and to challenge accepted norms; Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, TQM or other CI methodologies and high levels of competence with MS Office and MS Visio or other relevant visual modelling and design software; The ability to work collaboratively with others within a team environment; Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work to tight and conflicting deadlines; The ability to effectively interpret and communicate complex information, including policies and procedures to staff at all levels. You may also have: Previous experience working in a Higher Education environment or heavily regulated industry; Previous experience of working in a project environment and / or hold a Prince 2 or other relevant project management qualification (e.g. APM / PMI); ISEB accreditation in Business Analysis; Certification in Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent; Knowledge of UML or BPMN; Knowledge of Sparks Enterprise Architect.
