The City is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead and oversee IT applications, infrastructure and services for the City, which includes 12 departments and over 1,687 employees. 2 the City: JEWEL OF THE DESERT Chandler is called the Innovation and Technology Hub of the Southwest because of its partnership with wide variety of high-tech industries including Intel, Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems, InfusionSoft, Microchip and Rogers Corporation to name a few. Chandler is strategically located just outside of the Metropolitan City of Phoenix, close to major freeways, and just 20 minutes outside of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, making it accessible for business and recreation travel. Chandler is known for its world-class recreation facilities, award-winning hotels and premier shopping. In 2010, Chandler won the prestigious All-American City Award for outstanding civic achievements by the national Civic League, which is only given annually to 10 communities nationwide. Chandler boasts of frequent recognition and accolades. Last year, Niche awarded Chandler the best place to live in metro Phoenix and the best suburb to live in Arizona. Chandler also recently finished 6th place in the Center for Digital Government s, 2017 Digital Cities Survey. Today, the City has more than 260,000 residents and is a regional leader in economic development with a mix of agriculture, manufacturing and electronics business sectors. 3 vv the Job This is an at-will, executive management level position which reports to the Administrative Services Director and is an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team. The CIO leads the Information Technology (IT) division and oversees the design and reliability of application software, drives adoption and integration of technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of services provided, and ensures the City s infrastructure is sound and has the capacity to meet the demands of an innovative, technically savvy and growing organization. The CIO manages 5 direct reports (Application, Infrastructure and Services Managers, Security Administrator and Financial System Analyst), with a talented team of 57 professionals, an annual budget of approximately $16.6 million, and a CIP budget of $3.9 million. The IT Division provides technical oversight and project delivery services for a number of Citywide and Public Safety related initiatives. The City has a main campus that provides connectivity to roughly 1500 full/part-time employees. The City s WAN encompasses miles of City fiber, in addition to carrier-provided leased data circuits to City facilities and external partner agencies. The organization currently has 100 physical servers with nearly 700 virtual servers, two internet circuits, over 2000 desktops, numerous access points, two data centers, over 300 applications, and 57 sites that use fiber. two UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES/CHALLENGES: u The City of Chandler will be looking to the new CIO to move the organization to the next level of innovation and improved IT services, including streamlining IT project delivery services with platforms for rapid solution development. u Strategize and guide the organization to meet City Council objectives to be the most connected City and develop longterm strategic plans to migrate to a more robust, agile and secure infrastructure and embrace emerging technology. u Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, staff development, high performance outcomes and excellence in customer service. u Continue to grow consultative partnerships with Departments to educate and collaborate on technology solutions that allow divisions/ departments to function more effectively. u Participate in the development of the City s fiber master plan to ensure high speed, reliable, and uninterrupted connectivity for City sites which is key for conducting day-to-day City operations.

BUSINESS ACUMEN / ADMINISTRATION / OPERATIONS u Align self and professional priorities with the business strategic plan. u Coordinate standards, best practices and ongoing compliance needs related to local, state and federal mandates.

5 EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS u Bachelor s degree in business administration, computer science or related field; and u Eight years of demonstrated experience in business technology management, including five years of development, strategic planning and supervisory experience, and u Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of current and emerging technologies, or u Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work and meets licensing requirements. 6 Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is: $113,755 $167,418 annually DOE/DOQ.
