11 Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning. Mahatma Gandhi

12 IT IS HARD WORK We understand that--- the work of linking economic development, improving the business climate in our region and improving workforce development is difficult. We know that---it takes time, careful relationship building, policy changes and systemic changes. We make sure--that we partner with organizations that can help we influence the right stakeholders in our region.

13 Let s Get Started Develop your industry-specific, regional sector initiative with the following characteristics: Address the needs of employers by focusing intensively on the workforce needs of a specific industry sector over a sustained period, often concentrating on a specific occupation or set of occupations within that industry. Address the needs of workers by creating formal career paths to good jobs, reducing barriers to employment and sustaining or increasing middle-class jobs. Bolster regional economic competitiveness by engaging economic development experts in workforce issues and aligning education, economic and workforce development planning. Engage a broader array of key stakeholders through partnerships organized by workforce intermediaries. Promote systemic change that achieves ongoing benefits for the industry, workers and community.
