1 POSITION DESCRIPTION COUNTY OF PORTER, INDIANA Submit resumes via only to Salary 42,250 (non negotiable) Resume must be received by November 4:00 p.m. POSITION: Community Engagement Director DEPARTMENT: Indiana Dunes Tourism WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Schedule must be flexible to include working evenings and weekends. POSITION OVERVIEW: Service sporting and other special events, meetings, reunions and other groups. Coordinate regular group and individual partnership meetings to foster community engagement (including hoteliers, local businesses, universities and other partners). Develops and designs group, niche market and other publications and promotional material. Develops, implements and analyzes the IDT social media strategy and plan. Services, develops and assists in promotion of niche markets. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Solicitation and Servicing of Groups Services motor coach operators, associations, sporting events, conventions, seminars, small meetings, trade shows, special events, reunions, grand travel (grandparents / grandchildren) and other group business. Services groups visiting Indiana Dunes Country which include: Creating and conducting destination reviews of the county

2 Conducting site inspections Soliciting group rates from lodging, dining, and attraction establishments Assisting with housing arrangements, such as arranging for hotel room blocks Creating tailored itineraries Developing creative themes Assisting with program development such as giving names of entertainers, photographers, etc. Providing welcome packets Providing step-on guides Establishing spouse activities and itineraries Acting as a liaison between the facilities booked and the group planner and others as they apply Coordinate regular group and individual partnership meetings (including meetings with hoteliers, Valparaiso University and other partners) Conducts follow-up surveys with group organizers to determine success of event. Assists prospective organizers with site inspections and destination reviews. Publications/Design Develops and designs niche market, group and other publications and promotional material. Fishing guide Biking guide Birding guide Wedding guide Meeting planners guide Sporting event guide/webpage Group tour piece/motor coach Direct mail pieces Profile sheets Develops and designs social media ads, photo passes, name tags, coupons, promotional posters, Facebook ads, event flyers and others as needed. Social Media/IT! Creates and maintains social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube and others.! Develops and implements social media strategy and plan. Analyzes and reports on performance.! Coordinates regional social media projects.! Conducts social media advertising in conjunction with overall marketing campaigns.! Creates social media content (text, pictures, graphics, videos).! Responds to all requests that come through social media channels in a timely fashion.! Trains and mentors social media IDT support staff person.! Assists in database and AV equipment management. Niche Market Development Assist in development of (with Promotions Director) and markets itineraries, packages, and publications for niches and groups. Promotions Director will write itineraries and top ten lists.

3 Special Projects Work with the Promotions Director to develop stories for niche markets and groups. Research trends, develop reports and make recommendations to supervisors. Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Proficiency in managing social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, including crisis management. Experience designing and working with Adobe Creative Suite, word processing, database, , electronic presentations, and spreadsheets. Knowledge of hospitality and tourism industries. A Bachelor s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business or Tourism Management or a related field and experience in such fields. Ability to effectively promote and service visitors. Ability to plan and conduct group tours and maintain current knowledge of county attractions and services. Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with IDT team and publicly. Ability to prioritize and organize a variety of ongoing projects and the ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to work independently Experience preferred with Apple products and software. Ability to work as a team. Willingness to travel on Indiana Dunes Tourism business. 4 ! Members of the public Reports directly to the Assistant Director. Any unusual problems or situations that arise are referred to the Executive Director for consultation. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Performs duties in a standard office environment, with some lifting of boxes of supplies and promotional materials. Duties require frequent travel to meetings, conferences and events. LICENSE / CERTIFICATION NEEDED: Possession of a valid driver s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
