1 Section 1205 May 2011 Volume 7, Issue 9 May s s Meeting: Open Forum Section Meeting Hosted by: Section 1205 Board Members We are planning an Open forum style meeting for our section this month. This will be slightly different than our normal, Presentation style meetings. The Senior board will review a variety of topics including but not limited to descriptions of the board positions and their primary functions; specific personal experiences of the board members; a section financial update; an finally we will have an interactive Q&A session open to all attendees answering questions related to any national or sectional ASQ inquiries.. This is a great opportunity for the board to receive feedback and questioning from the section which will be used to enhance the section and section activities to be of greater benefit to the members. NOTE: If you have any specific topics you wish to have discussed or addressed by the board please note them when you make your reservations. Please also note that this meeting will not qualify for certification credits. Contact: Dana Fanara Quality and Heat Treat Manager Belvidere IL Responsible for keeping the quality assurance program in compliance with company policies/procedures and TS requirements. Voice of the customer. Participates in the strategic planning process to integrate quality and heat treat improvements with the overall business objectives of the company. Develops, coordinates, implements and maintains the most effective and efficient quality practices for optimum quality control while meeting the normal, special customer and third party registrar requirements. Monitoring and reporting of quality metrics. Drives and supports the change from a department whose primary function is detection to one of prevention. Position Responsibilities A. Assure that Belvidere Operation meets and/or exceeds company and third party registrar (TS system requirements). 1. Coordinate the activities of the QA group and support the efforts of the other functional areas to assure that compliance is maintained by all. 2. Provide access to the company policies and procedures so as to ensure compliance to requirements. 3. Monitor the level of conformance of the quality system at Camcar LLC, Belvidere Operations through the results of internal and external assessments. B. Responsible for ensuring the products shipped to the customer meet their requirements. 1. Responsible for the quality of products released to customer locations. C. Maintains laboratory system that meets ISO/IEC requirements 1. Works closely with the supervisor to support efforts to maintain system compliance. D. Customer Representative for TS and participates in internal audits at other sister locations. E. Responsible for the maintenance and reporting of applicable quality metrics for the month-end reports F. Responsible for safety and housekeeping (5S) of the Heat Treat and QA department to ensure they meet the expectations of the operation. G. Act as the operations Environmental Management Representative (EMR). Education/Experience 1. Bachelor s degree in business or a related field. 2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality work environment. 3. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a quality manager in an automotive work environment. 4. Working knowledge of PC usage and applicable software packages (i.e. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc). 5. Thorough understanding of related SPC techniques. 6. Working knowledge of the various manufacturing areas related to the fastener industry. Desirable Education and Experience 1. Lead Auditor certification for ISO/TS16949: Six Sigma training
