2 Thank you for expressing an interest in joining the team at mirus. mirus is an established local charity, we have been supporting people in South Wales for over 30 years and employ over 650 staff. We have a range of contracts available from 16 hours per week up to 39 hours per week, we will also consider applicants interested in working as casual relief workers. We are looking for exceptional candidates who can be positive, creative and innovative to enable people to achieve the things that matter to them. You will make a real difference to people s lives ensuring they play an active part in their local community and develop strong local networks. We are looking for candidates who are able to join mirus as soon as possible; once you join us you will be supported to undertake a full, paid induction and training programme. To support your induction and development you will undertake a range of core and specialist training programmes and qualifications; these will be funded by mirus and your time undertaking training will be paid at your contracted hourly rate. Your induction will include learning, understanding and applying mirus values, ethos, standards and working practices. 3 Support Worker Job Purpose: Support Workers will develop, implement and review Person Centred Plans, Support Plans, Active Support Plans and Individual Risk Assessments to enable people we support to lead fulfilling lives. This will include supporting people to achieve their individual goals and maximise independence, choice, control and decision-making. Support will be person centred and ensure dignity and respect for all people supported in line with Care Council of Wales and mirus Codes of Practice Hours: Agreed contracted hours to include evenings, night time support, weekends, Bank Holidays and sleep-in duties CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Role & Responsibilities 2 Protecting People from Abuse & Neglect 3 Health & Safety 4 Individual Responsibilities 5 Organisational Responsibilities Key Deliverables: To ensure that support is tailored to the individual needs, goals and aspirations of each person we support and demonstrates clear outcomes To have an understanding and commitment to the Care Council of Wales and mirus Codes of Practice To enable people we support to achieve their individual goals by developing, reviewing and implementing relevant plans including support plans, active support plans, stay well plans, person centred plans and risk assessments To use Active Support to enable people, where possible, to undertake most tasks themselves. The level of assistance will vary according to individual need To liaise with the families, friends and circles of support to ensure a quality support service is provided. Support workers should actively encourage families, friends and circles of support to be involved in the life of people we support and provide informal support networks. Support Workers should work with their managers to ensure those who are important in the lives of people we support are fully involved in the day to day life of the person supported including all person centred planning and review meetings To assist and encourage people we support to become integrated members of their local community, promoting physical and social participation e.g. accessing community learning, volunteering, employment, social and leisure activities/groups /services and faith and or cultural activities To understand how to respond to suspected abuse and neglect To be aware of own responsibilities, and the responsibilities of others, relating to health and safety To administer and supervise medication to people we support in accordance to mirus policy and procedures To complete relevant QCF qualifications within 2 years of appointment To participate and contribute to team meetings, area meetings and external meetings To contribute to internal and external monitoring and review systems

6 Terms of the post - In addition to an exciting job opportunity we offer the following: Salary Scale 15, , per annum ( /hr) Sleep in payment rate of based on an 8 hour sleep per week ( 3,269.81/annum) Scenario: A full time support worker employed at the service and undertaking one sleep in per week has the potential to earn up to 19, per annum A defined contribution pension arrangement as standard with the option to discuss pension transfer / continuation if coming from the public sector (8%, made up of 4% Employer and 4% Employee) 32 leave days inc. bank holidays rising to 37 following 5 years service Commitment to work towards fully funded appropriate professional qualifications, including a QCF Level 2 in health and social care or equivalent DBS checks and training costs / time to attend training, are fully funded by the company mirus Rewards Scheme which provides significant discounts at a huge range of online and high street stores Casual Relief Workers are paid 7.83/hour and accrue annual leave payments within their terms all other terms/benefits above apply We would like to recruit a number of support staff who hold a valid driving license, however, we will also consider non drivers within the recruitment process.
