1 April 5, 2012 SASSC HUMAN RESOURCES The SASSC-HR Team is here to help Student Affairs employees navigate all things related to Human Resources. We provide comprehensive human resources services, from Recruitment and Appointments, through Payroll and Attendance & Leave, to Employee Relations, for every department within the Division. We re here to guide employees through all aspects of employment in the Division. One of the founding members of SASSC, Jennifer moved to Housing and Residential Education in 2006 where she provided human resources services until the inception of SASSC in Along with providing human resource direction to all of Student Affairs, Jennifer assists the Division with all employee relations issues, including employee performance, providing advice from the beginning of employment to the end. Sandy has been with USF and SASSC since November, She was recently promoted as the SASSC-HR Employment Manager and can assist with any and all Student Affairs employment needs. Sandy has a B.A. in Mass Communications from USF and, since 1986, was employed in a family business which her husband, Frank, continues to run. 2 SICK LEAVE POOL OPEN ENROLLMENT The annual open enrollment period for the USF Sick Leave Pool starts April 2 nd and runs through April 26 th. As most of you already know, the purpose of the USF Sick Leave Pool is to enable an employee to remain in a paid status when they experience a serious, short term medical condition that keeps them from returning to work and causes them to deplete all of their accrued sick and annual leave. There are established guidelines for the approval of Sick Leave Pool hours, and all members applying for use of Sick Leave Pool hours must meet these guidelines. To be eligible for membership in the Sick Leave Pool, an employee must meet ALL of the following criteria: Be appointed to an established position(s) for at least one (1) continuous year; Temporary employees, whether hourly or salaried, are not eligible to participate. Staff must have a performance rating of Achieves or higher. Administration and Faculty may not have received a notice of non-reappointment. Have a minimum sick leave balance of 72 hours as of pay period ending March 29, 2012 if appointed full-time, or a pro-rated number of hours if part-time. There must be a remaining balance of 64 hours (or a pro-rated number of hours if part-time) by pay period ending April 12, The Sick Leave Pool deduction will be made in ALT on pay period ending 5/24/2012. Apply for membership within the open enrollment period; and Contribute the required number of hours to the pool upon enrollment and replenish the pool when necessary. Sick Leave Pool applications can be found on the USF Human Resources website: and selecting Membership Application. IMPORTANT: All Sick Leave Pool applications must be completed and returned to Michelle Sticht in SASSC-HR, RAR139, no later than April 26th. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility or about the Sick Leave Pool in general, please contact Michelle either by phone at , or by at msticht@usf.edu. If you are already a member of the Pool you do not need to rejoin. If you are not a member and meet the eligibility requirements, we encourage you to consider joining. All hours will be deducted from new participants sick leave balances on May 24, 2012, with a June 1, 2012 effective date of membership. She received an M.S. in Human Resources Management from Nova Southeastern University in She has been working at USF since She is a wife and mother of two children, ages 12 and 7. Her husband was a member of the inaugural football team here at USF! Cindy will officially be a part of SASSC-HR on April 10th as our new Employment Coordinator. You can reach Cindy at cblout@usf.edu or Payroll and Attendance & Leave is managed by Michelle Sticht with the help of Quentin Miller, Angela Patane and Jessica Rivera, as well as honorary team member, Rachel Clouse. The Payroll Team helps with all things related to payroll, including the creation and processing of timesheets, making sure everyone gets paid properly and on time. They also assist with anything pertaining to attendance & leave which includes keeping all leave up-to-date in the Automated Leave Tracking system and guiding employees through the use of all the different types of leave available. Michelle, another founding member of SASSC, oversees the Team and assists with the day-to day operations of SASSC-HR. She advises departments and supervisors on payroll and leave related issues and guides employees through Workers Compensation and FMLA processes. Michelle began working at USF in 2005 when she was employed by the Counseling Center. In 2011, she graduated from USF with a B.A. in Art History and now fills former study time with researching medieval art and architecture. Michelle can be reached at msicht@usf.edu or Quentin Miller has recently joined the Payroll Team from the Student Services Client Support Team and is our Senior Payroll Specialist. Quentin has been with USF since 2008 and joined SASSC in 2009 from the USF Contoller s Office. He came to USF from the private sector where he was a business owner for more than 14 years. Quentin is primarily responsible for assisting Student Affairs departments located in the Marshall Student Center with payroll processing and managing attendance & leave issues. Quentin can be reached at qmiller@usf.edu or Angelyna Patane joined SASSC in 2009 from Central Human Resources where she was first hired in Angelyna is also a USF alumnus with a B.A. in Business Management. Her primary duties as Payroll Specialist are assisting with payroll processing, as well as attendance & leave management for Housing and Residential Education. You can reach Angelyna at apatane@usf.edu or Jessica Rivera is our student assistant. Jessica joined SASSC-HR in October, 2010 and is currently a sophomore here at USF studying psychology. Jessica is the first point of contact in SASSC-HR and has been providing general office support to the department, along with the creation and distribution of timesheets for all new employees. Just recently she was given additional, higher responsibilities including timesheet processing and leave auditing. Jessica can be reached at jessica20@usf.edu or Last but not least, is our honorary Payroll Specialist, Rachel Clouse. Rachel s primary role in SASSC is that of administrative assistant to Harold Bower but she has been instrumental in helping process timesheets and attendance & leave during times of transition. Providing excellent customer service, through efficient and effective processes that ultimately lead to successful solutions on a wide array of employment problems, is the primary goal SASSC-HR strives for on a daily basis. SASSC-HR endeavors to be attentive and timely in responding to our Student Affairs customers, so they can focus on the primary functions of their departments.
