Cntext and envirnment: (e.g. dept descriptin, regin descriptin, rgangram) The purpse f Glbal Infrmatin Services (GIS) in the British Cuncil is t partner with the business in rder t make effective use f Infrmatin in all its frms acrss the rganisatin. GIS has accuntability fr enabling the full life-cycle f infrmatin fr the whle f the business. The British Cuncil has undertaken a strategic review f its perating mdel including the creatin f a new GIS perating mdel. This rle is part f the new GIS team respnsible implementing this perating mdel. This rle is lcated within the GIS Infrmatin Gvernance and Risk Management team and reprts t Infrmatin Gvernance Manager (Disclsure & Recrds Management). Infrmatin Gvernance and Risk Management take the lead n infrmatin security and gvernance plicies and prcedures glbally fr the British Cuncil. They are respnsible fr infrmatin risk management as well as related educatin and training fr bth infrmatin prfessinals and all staff glbally. They lead n the glbal implementatin f required framewrks and standards fr cmpliance in this area. Deputise, as required, fr the Infrmatin Gvernance Manager (Disclsure & Recrds Management). 1 f 5

2 Accuntabilities, respnsibilities and main duties: (including peple management and finance) 1. Drafting and maintaining the plicies, standards and prcedures fr cmpliance with relevant Recrds Management gd practice, cdes f practice and the Public Recrds Acts. Ensuring that the plicy framewrk enables the pragmatic, apprpriate and cst effective management f recrds management and explitatin pprtunities, thrugh: Alignment with rganisatinal risk appetite, strategies and peratinal pririties, cnsultatin and engagement with stakehlders (internal and external), hrizn scanning, mnitring industry trends and best practice, Cnsideratin and interpretatin f the UK infrmatin gvernance related regulatins that prvide the crprate baseline fr Infrmatin Gvernance plicy framewrk and standards. Maintaining a cllective cntinuus understanding f the recrds management and retentin requirements at a glbal, reginal and cuntry level (Recrd Retentin Tlkit). 2. Prviding expert recrds management advice t stakehlders acrss the rganisatin t supprt prjects r ther areas requiring ad-hc advice. This rle will take a lead n any recrds management advice and will be the escalatin pint fr any cmplex recrds management queries. Supprting the IGRM Team and clleagues acrss GIS, in the evaluatin and respnse t 2 f 5

3 recrds management and disclsure risks/issues, including recmmending mitigating actins and apprpriate cntrl imprvements. 3. Reviewing recrds management requirements fr infrmatin systems, specifying any required changes t enable cmpliance with rganisatinal plicies and prcedures and verall the rganisatin infrmatin risk appetite. 4. Cntributing t the rganisatinal infrmatin management and explitatin strategies. 5. Drafting reprts fr the Infrmatin Assurance Cmmittee and ther relevant bards. 6. Supprt engaging with UK stakehlders/partners n Recrds Management and Public Recrds Act matters (e.g. The Natinal Archives, Infrmatin Cmmissiner s Office, Freign and Cmmnwealth Office, Department fr Internatinal Develpment). 7. Wrking effectively with strategic rganisatinal functins such as legal experts and technical supprt t prvide authritative advice and guidance n the requirements fr Recrds Management cntrls. 8. Supprting the rganisatin s annual assessment f its cmpliance against the UK HMG Infrmatin Assurance Maturity Mdel Standard (r thers as necessary).
