1 Job Description JOB TITLE Project Officer GRADE Level 3 REPORTS TO Head of Discipleship and Evangelism LOCATION Methodist Church House CLUSTER Discipleship and Evangelism SECTION OR SUB-CLUSTER Discipleship and Evangelism JOB PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES To professionally, flexibly and collaboratively support the Discipleship and Evangelism team in the effective management of the Youth President, Research and Development of Policy and taking a lead in Projects to further the mission of the team. JOB DIMENSIONS RESOURCES UNDER CONTROL Direct reports- not full managerial Youth President (mentoring, developmental and pastoral) Supervisory responsibilities for any administrative support and volunteers on specific pieces of work Resources Management and oversight of any project related budgets e.g. Youth President Approval of up to 20,000 on general Cluster budget ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES 1. Supervisory responsibilities for the Youth President including mentoring, coaching and providing work and pastoral support. Strategic diary planning of the YP. Assistance with 3Generate report writing. Oversight of YP recruitment process. Policy 2. Lead on policy development for new initiatives and evaluating and redesigning existing policies, practices and structures, and exploring alternative models. In particular change management support for specific areas of the Cluster as required. 3. Facilitate effective consultation practices and convening stakeholders or practitioner s forums in Methodist Church House and elsewhere. Project and Event Management 4. 2 projects/events taking place at a national level throughout the Connexion Overseeing and coordinating the work from inception through to delivery within an agreed timeframe 5. Rescue, assess and reform at-risk projects/events through modifying and adapting existing practices and methods to produce a more successful working model 6. Lead Implementation/Planning Group for a project/event. Chairing meetings, coordinating the work of the Group and providing advice and counsel on best practice and ways forward. 7. Manage the budgets of the projects/events and have supervisory responsibilities for any allocated administrative support, volunteers etc. 8. Evaluate and assess projects, processes and procedures and manage future development to uphold and improve standards across the board Research and Report Writing 9. Undertake detailed strategic research and analysis, clarifying and presenting options and identifying the implications of particular proposals or decisions. 10. 5 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Health and Safety: Equal Opportunities: Physical Conditions: Remuneration: Hours of Work: The post holder will be subject to the Methodist Council s Health and Safety policy The post holder will be subject to the Methodist Council s Equal Opportunities policy Open plan office accommodation 30,000-35,000 per annum 5 days per week The normal hours of work will be from 9.00am to 5.00pm with an hour for lunch. A flexi-time scheme is in operation, core working hours are 10:00am to 12 noon and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. With the prior agreement of the line manager, the working day may commence from 8:00 am and will finish no later than 6:00 pm. The flexi-time policy should be referred to for further information. Holiday Entitlement: Sick Pay: Pension: Probationary Period: Season Ticket: Some flexibility in working hours may be required due to the nature of this post and the work of the Cluster. Payment for overtime is not given but employees are entitled to time off in lieu by arrangement. During the first to fourth years 25 days During the fifth to ninth years 28 days During the tenth and subsequent years 30 days Plus Bank Holidays and an extra three days at Christmas and New Year. Entitlement in accordance with the Methodist Council s terms and conditions of employment There is a contributory final salary pension scheme to which eligible lay employees will be auto-enrolled. Employees who do not meet the auto enrolment criteria are eligible to join the Scheme subject to certain provisions. Appointments for lay employees are made subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period, normally three months.
