THE UK S MOST COMPREHENSIVE GAS TRAINING COURSE

SKILLS TRAINING GROUP Our 26-week Gas Foundation Course is the UK s most comprehensive and in-depth gas training course for adults. We go the extra mile for all our students, ensuring that they re not only fully qualified, but the most employable as well. Our expert tutors have identified skill shortages within the industry through their years of experience. We have incorporated this knowledge into our training syllabus. With a blend of classroom and workshop-based learning we believe that hands on learning is essential to train for a career in the gas industry.

ABOUT US While NVQ apprenticeships have been the traditional route to gain access to a gas engineer job, it s a route that s quickly being replaced by Managed Learning Programmes. The core reason for this is a lack of investment from companies to take apprentices on. Operating an apprenticeship means a three or four-year commitment to work with and train an individual. As a result, firms want the person they ve invested in to continue working at their company for a long period of time. Changes to the economy and the increased frequency of job swapping mean this is no longer viable. With some firms losing apprentices to competitors almost as soon as they ve completed their training, it s led to a reluctance to take on and train apprentices. With the acute skills shortage in our industry caused by lack of investment in apprentices, Skills Training Group was founded in 2011 with the objective of delivering high quality, employer-led training with a focus on making learners job ready on the outset. This approach has earned Skills Training Group an enviable reputation as one of the UK s leading heating and utilities training providers, allowing us to act as a recruitment and training pipeline for many of the UK s largest heating and utilities employers. Our candidates have gone on to work for some of the UK s most prestigious heating and utilities employers, including:

WHY BECOME A GAS ENGINEER? When students leave our training facilities, they enter a well-established field that offers: A Competitive Salary Depending on your experience level and area of expertise, typical salaries for gas engineers range from 30,000 to up to 50,000 a year. By working overtime or running your own business, these figures can increase dramatically. A Secure Career Because of the many regulations that require people to hire registered Gas Safe engineers, your skills will always be in demand, offering access to a range of career prospects and opportunities. As you gain experience, new opportunities will become available. It s so much more than just a job - it s a lifetime career. Day-to-Day Challenges Working as a gas engineer is highly rewarding. Every day you will be challenged and tested, relying on your practical skills, customer service, and communication in order to solve problems and succeed. Although not easy, you ll never be bored while on the job. Diverse Tasks No two days on the job are the same. You could find yourself working on small domestic boiler jobs one day, and huge commercial heating systems the next. The constant change of environment makes the career fun and exciting. Flexible Schedule Unlike other professions, you ll be able to manage your own time - and you ll never be tied to an office chair. Each day will be different, and you re in the driver s seat when it comes to scheduling appointments and taking jobs, especially when you own your own business.

We have been using Skills Training Group exclusively as a recruitment pipeline for the past 4 years for our nationwide service contracts. The level of knowledge the candidates come out with is exceptional and with a little support, some of the candidates have gone on to become lead engineers with Actavo. Raymond Ringrose Actavo UK Field Operations Director (employer)
