3 HABC Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events (QCF) Introduction This Qualification Specification document is designed to outline all you need to know in order to offer this qualification in your Centre. If you have any further questions please contact your Account Manager. Qualification Details The HABC Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events has been accredited by the regulators of England, Wales and Northern Ireland (Ofqual, Welsh Government and CCEA) and is part of the qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF). It is supported by SkillsActive the Sector Skills Council for the sport and active leisure sector. Key facts QAN: 600/1934/7 Learning Aim Reference: Guided learning hours (GLH): 40 Credit Value: 5 Assessment Method: Portfolio of Evidence Qualification Overview This qualification is aimed at learners who wish to work as a steward in the Active Leisure and Learning sector. This may include events such as sports, music festivals, concerts, parades or carnivals. Learners gaining this qualification will know how to prepare for events, control entry and exit of customers, identify and deal with crowd problems and respond to emergencies. Entry Requirements There are no prerequisites for this qualification however It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in literacy or numeracy or equivalent. Age ranges This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 and above. Geographical Coverage The qualification is suitable for learners in England, Wales or Northern Ireland. 3

4 Special Needs HABC have measures in place for learners with special needs. Please see the Reasonable Adjustments Policy Annex 17 of the HABC Core Manual. Qualification Structure The qualification is made up of four mandatory units and is internally assessed through a portfolio of evidence. All units within this qualification are contained in Appendix 1. Alternative paperwork must be reviewed and approved by the EQS team before commencement of the course. The assessment must be internally quality assured and retained by the Centre. The internal quality assessor (IQA) report at the end of this booklet is given as a suggested/recommended form to use. A Notification of Completion Form (NOC) must then be sent to HABC to request certification. Receipt of the original NOC form (photo copies not accepted) will initiate the request for an External Quality Support visit, until Direct Claim Status is awarded. A list of results will be provided to the Centre Contacts stating whether learners have been successful. Certificates for successful learners will be dispatched for distribution by the Centre Contacts. 4

Nominated Tutors must have relevant and current occupational experience in carrying out stewarding activities. Preferably within the last 3 years. 5

6 Suitable Teaching Qualifications include: ADT or equivalent. Level 3 or 4 PTLLS or above Diploma or Certificate in Education Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education City and Guilds Teachers Certificate or equivalent Level 3 or 4 NVQ in Training and/or Development Professional Trainers Certificate Proof of at least 30 hours of training in any subject Nominated Tutors should also be able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge in a work context and provide evidence of engagement with the subject field and continuing professional development. Internal Quality Assurance The minimum requirements for IQA for this qualification are that Internal Quality Assurers/second Tutors must be qualified and have recent occupational competency in the subject area they are quality assuring. Where an Internal Quality Assurance person is also an Assessor of the qualification, their assessment decisions must be internally verified by a different Internal Quality Assurer/Second Tutor. The suggested IQA Report can be found at the end of this booklet. ID Requirements All learners must be instructed to bring photographic identification to the assessment to be checked by the invigilator. This instruction should be given ahead of the course/assessment when the learner registers and/or with any pre-course materials. It is the responsibility of the Centre to have systems in place to ensure that the person taking an examination/assessment is indeed the person they are purporting to be. All Centres are therefore required to ensure that each learner s photographic identification is checked before they are allowed to undertake the examination/assessment and write the type of photo identification provided by each learner on the Candidate List under Identification Provided. HABC will accept the following as proof of a learner s identity: o o o o Valid Passport (any nationality) Signed UK Photo card Driving Licence Valid Warrant Card issued by HM Forces, Police Other photographic ID card, e.g. Employee ID Card (must be current employer), Student ID Card, Travel card.
