1 Position Description POSITION: REPORTS TO: SALARY: LOCATION: STATUS AND TERM: Coordinator - Communications and Engagement Chief Executive Officer EFT $65,000 $70,000 pro rata (inclusive compulsory Employer Superannuation) Portarlington Part Time ongoing (25 hours/week, some weekend work is required which is remunerated accordingly). ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management manages 17km foreshore Crown Land on Port Phillip Bay between Portarlington & St Leonards on behalf of the Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change (via a Committee of Management). The Committee of Management (CoM), which is established under the Crown Land Reserves Act 1978, has adopted the following Mission Statement to guide its operations: Bellarine Bayside sustainably protects, restores and enhances the Northern Bellarine natural and built coastal environment, for the benefit and enjoyment of local communities, holiday-makers and visitors. The organisation also operates five seasonal holiday parks in Indented Head and St Leonards (400 sites), and the Portarlington Holiday Park (900 sites) which operates all year round and is one of the largest holiday parks in Australia. Other assets managed include Pt Richards Flora and Fauna Reserve, the foreshore coastal trail, five boat ramps and a number of community halls. More detail about Bellarine Bayside can be found at

2 POSITION OBJECTIVES The role has lead accountability for the effective and efficient development and delivery of communications and community engagement. The Communications and Community Engagement Co-ordinator (CEC) is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation and evaluation of Bellarine Bayside s communications polices and protocols including stakeholder and community engagement. This will include providing input into the development of strategic organisational and communication and engagement processes and procedures for key projects. In accordance with the Bellarine Bayside Communications Plan, the CEC will lead and/or assist the senior management team in the development and implementation of communication and engagement processes initiatives and projects. The CEC will provide advice as required to the Senior Management Team. KEY DUTIES Manage the delivery of the Bellarine Bayside Communication s Plan Ensure a high standard of communication both within the organisation and when engaging externally with community and key stakeholders; Review the Communications Plan as required; Ensure the standards established within the Communications Plan are monitored and achieved; Develop organisational communication campaign and engagement messages; Develop initiatives to improve the organisation s communication and engagement performance; As directed, design, produce, co-ordinate, write content for, and monitor key organisational digital and print communications i.e. external publications and reports; Write, edit, design and project manage the production of Bellarine Bayside s Annual Report; and Manage the organisations photo and video database and take photos of community and organisational events as required. Manage the development of social media platforms Develop strategies, content and responses for organisational public communications i.e. social media; Lead specific communication activities i.e. E-News, media releases, Staff News etc.; Maintain and develop Bellarine Bayside s website including writing content and making regular updates; Monitor other organisation s social media platforms for ideas and connections; and Monitor website and social media analytics and provide reports and advice to the CEO, Senior Management Team and Committee of Management as required. 2

3 Design and deliver effective stakeholder and community engagement processes. Develop and lead the development of communication and engagement plans for key organisational projects and proposals; Provide ongoing regular contact of Bellarine Bayside key stakeholders and community members; and Provide recommendations to the CEO and senior management team on improvements as required to engagement processes and initiatives. Work effectively other Bellarine Bayside management and staff to deliver combined services Build effective working relationships with the Senior Management Team; Ensure the seamless delivery of communication and engagement services across the various business functions of Bellarine Bayside; and Provide appropriate written workflows and process steps to enable staff to effectively undertake their roles in relation to communication and engagement. ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Reporting Line: Internal Contacts: External Relationships: Directly to the Chief Executive Officer Works closely with the Senior Management Team and the Administration Coordinator. Local stakeholder groups, various media outlets, other agencies i.e. City of Greater Geelong, Parks Victoria etc. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Demonstrated ability to write and edit communications material including media statements, publications, website copy, news articles, fact sheets, briefing notes to deadline etc. 2. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including public speaking, business reporting and relationship building with communities and diverse stakeholders. 3. Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering organisational community engagement plans and projects. 4. Ability to work in a self-directed manner and as part of a team, with excellent organisational skills. 5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a public sector environment. 6. Demonstrated high-level computer and administration skills including the use of all Microsoft Office programs. 3

4 7. Ability to manage sensitive and private information in a way that builds trust and confidence with staff and clients. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 1. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in a relevant field 2. Digital communication skills and a high level of understanding of the use of digital technologies for communication, marketing and engagement 3. Photo and video editing using a variety of programs such as Canva, InDesign, Vimeo and PicMonkey and Joomla website platform. OTHER PREREQUISITES 1. Applicants must hold a current Police Check or be willing to undertake a Police Check. 2. Applicants must have the ability to undergo and pass a Working with Children check. 3. Applicants must be an Australian resident or have a valid Australian visa with work rights. 4. Applicants must hold a current Australian Driver s Licence.
