1 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Job Reference No: Location: Grade: Hours of Duty: Accountable to: Any Special Conditions: Membership Consultant L1738 Location in the Borough of Rochdale Band 2, 14,470-15,912 per annum pro rata (plus OTE) 37 hours per week Includes days, evenings and weekends. Post-holders will be required, with reasonable notice, to change shifts as and when required to meet business needs. Senior Membership Consultant Evening and weekend working will be required as directed by the service. This may also include providing these services at any other Link4Life facility should it be deemed necessary. Link4Life and its partners at RMBC work within national guidelines and legislation. There is no provision for smoking. PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB Responsible for generating external sales of fitness memberships to prospective members. To increase the revenue of the business through achievement of preset membership targets. Principle Duties 1. To conduct sales tours of the facilities and give guidance to prospective customers on the type of membership category best suited to their needs and requests as directed by the Company standard. 2. To ensure all prospective members received the appropriate information and tour of the facilities. 3. To be responsible for the administration of membership paperwork and to ensure that it is processed accordingly. 4. To be responsible for recording daily sales and to be familiar with the total membership sales of the club. 5. In conjunction with the Business Development and Marketing Manager be responsible for the management of the membership database and sales systems. 6. To be fully aware of promotional activities and sales targets. 7. To produce an individual monthly sales plan to achieve preset sales targets. 8. To achieve on a daily basis standards and target, as set down by the company with regards to Key performance indicators: Tour to sale, Calls to appointment, POS referrals, completed calls, new leads 9. To attend weekly sales meetings (as required) to provide relevant information pertaining to membership sales. 10. To carry out competitor analyses on a regular basis in order to provide information, this will be used positively in the selling of Link4Life memberships.

2 11. To generate new business by visiting corporate sites and complete outreach work. 12. To support the Business Development and Marketing Manager in delivery of systems and initiatives aimed at improving and maintaining customer retention. 13. To sell membership with integrity and full clarity of information. 14. Ensure that full auditable procedures and practices are in place for processing, storage and management of member information including financial information. 15. Liaise with internal and external contacts such as suppliers and user groups. 16. Pursue and promote corporate contacts in the area for all Link4Life sites. 17. Assist in the development and promotion of L4L schemes aimed at attracting as wide a proportion of the market as possible. 18. Contribute to membership campaigns / adverts / offers at aimed at raising Link4Life s fitness services profile and maintaining the branded image of these services. 19. Assist in campaigns that are designed to profile target areas and groups. Secondary Duties 1. To undertake other such duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined by the Managing Director of the Trust from time to time in consultation with the post holder and, if he/she wishes, with the relevant Trade Union Representative. 2. To participate in any training initiatives, as trainer or trainer / trainer assessor, in relation to the duties of the post. 3. To provide cover as necessary in the absence of staff. 4. To maintain and wear uniform in a smart manner. Responsibilities The Post holder must: - 1. Perform his/her duties in accordance with the Trust s Equality and Diversity Policy. 2. Ensure that Trust s commitment to public service orientation is provided. Control of Resources Personnel To liaise with Leisure Centre management and staff. Equipment/Materials Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of fitness testing equipment, furniture and materials as used by self, members and other staff. Health/Safety/Welfare To be responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of himself / herself and other persons who may be affected by his / her actions or omissions whilst at work. Training and Development The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the identification and undertaking of his / her own training and development requirements in accordance with the Trust s Employee Development Scheme

3 Relationships Internal Including Staff and senior managers within Link4Life, Rochdale Boroughwide Cultural Trust, Members of the Cultural Trust Management Board External Customers (in relation to complaints, queries and enquiries), Sports Council, National Advisory Bodies, National Governing Bodies of Sports, Sports clubs and other relevant bodies and voluntary organisations, Health Promotion Officers
