1 Head of International Major Giving Compassion in World Farming Background The debate about food security, sustainability and safety has never been more urgent. Whilst veganism and flexitarianism are rising trends animal welfare on factory farms worldwide is a desolate reflection on our society. Billions of animals are factory farmed every day. In Europe alone, hundreds of millions of animals farmed for food spend their entire life in a cage. Food is not running out (we already produce enough to feed billions more people) but space to farm for current quantities of meat, dairy and fish, is. And so is time; for the planet to recover from the assaulting contribution Factory Farming brings to climate change, as well as for the billions of farm animals; every second of every day. Compassion in World Farming has embarked on a radical global strategy that seeks to stop the spread of Factory Farming globally. We have a track record of success since our start in the sixties.
