12 + Leaders as Chief Happiness Officers Build CHO tasks into your existing role: Management by walking around Ask curious questions about what would help an employee be more effective, more efficient, and/or have more fun e.g. Joe, what would it take to make your role easier and more fun? What would it take to make you excited about coming to work each morning? Catch good performance Care about family illnesses and birthdays Be consistent - put it on your calendar if needed and also randomize it so as to see different employees performing various tasks

13 + Cultivating autonomy Can you as a leader cultivate autonomy using any of these tools? Flexible workhours/work week? Some or all work done remotely? Time off is used at employee s discretion? A day off for volunteering/community service? Job sharing and/or trading off roles periodically
