This is an exciting time to join Breast Cancer Now. Formed in 2015 from the merger of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign, we are the UK s largest breast cancer research charity. We fund the brightest minds to discover how to prevent breast cancer, how to detect it earlier and how to treat it effectively at every stage. With 50,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer every year, and over 11,500 women dying from the disease, we urgently need to raise more money to save lives. More information on our research can be found at The Fundraising Directorate will raise over 24m in 2016/2017, but we need to grow income significantly over the next five years in order to fund the scientific breakthroughs that will make breast cancer a survivable disease. The Individual Giving team will play a pivotal role in this growth.

2 Overview of department The Individual Giving team is responsible for generating income from individuals through high-quality direct marketing activity. This team uses these mass communications to engage and retain supporters. The team delivers a range of fundraising campaigns and activities, using well established fundraising techniques while also testing and developing innovative ways to solicit donations. Working closely with carefully selected agency partners, the Individual Giving team steward tens of thousands of breast cancer supporters, educating and informing about how their money is helping fund lifesaving research. Purpose of the role This role will report into the Direct Marketing Manager responsible for recruiting, retaining and developing donors who give via direct debit, and will work alongside the Direct Marketing Officer. Direct Debit giving is due to raise 4.7m in 1718, and the ambition is to increase this significantly in the future. This role will: Assist the Direct Marketing Manager to plan, deliver and manage assigned activities (or parts of projects) to recruit supporters (financial and non-financial) through a variety of media channels which may include DM, Telemarketing, Face to Face, internal and online. When agreed, support the Direct Marketing Manager responsible for cash recruitment, on campaigns, or parts of campaigns, as assigned. Monitor expenditure and income, reporting against target and the reconciliation of financial reports Provide some administrative support to the team, as needed. Key accountabilities Day to day agency account management: Day to day account management of face to face fundraising agency/ies (as assigned), dealing with all their requests and queries in a timely manner, from campaign set up until the work is completed. Design and deliver fundraising charity training, and refresher training, at the start and throughout each campaign. Complete all compliance activities as requested, for example call listening.

3 Collate weekly campaign reports on income and costs generated Process all invoices in a timely manner, liaising with finance on any issues. Ensure the agency receive any and all data or reports we re contractually obliged to provide, and liaise with the data team on any data issues. To demonstrate best practice in working with key internal and external suppliers to ensure maximum efficiency and campaign effectiveness. Donor retention: Work with the supporter operations team and senior management to ensure that any and all complaints generated by face to face fundraising activity are dealt with promptly, to minimise risk of reputational damage. Take responsibility for ensuring the Direct Debit welcome journey is delivered as planned, including print production, data selection and fulfilment house management. Manage the stock levels of all welcome materials including arranging for the production of additional items, ensuring this is done within budget, following brand guideline and in a timely manner. Payroll giving Take responsibility for maintaining relationships with the various payroll giving agencies, reporting on income and costs. Ensure all invoices and data are processed in a timely manner. Be proactive in making recommendations to the Direct Marketing Manager for amendments needed to existing processes to increase efficiency. Liaise with the corporate team, with support from Direct Marketing Manager to identify ways in which we can potentially work together to recruit new payroll donors Liaise with the data team and finance, with support from Direct Marketing Manager to ensure our payroll reporting is accurate Campaign management: Assist the Direct Marketing Manager responsible for cash recruitment on agreed activity, or parts of projects, through a variety of media channels such as Direct Mailings, Telemarketing, Face to Face, internal and online. This may include briefing/training agencies, sourcing material, proofing creative copy and artwork, proofing print proofs and lasers and monitoring campaign fulfilment, as and when required. To be accountable for operating against agreed schedules and processes, liaising with internal and external customers and suppliers as agreed. Take responsibility for ensuring that thanking is in place for all assigned cash recruitment activity.

4 Communications: Use key messages, stories and examples for Breast Cancer Now that inspire and explain breast cancer research to a public audience in order that they actively respond to the marketing. Legal/Risk: Share the responsibility with the rest of the Individual Giving team for ensuring: all our donor data is of the highest standard; records are kept up to date up-to-date; records are organised; and all supporter information is managed and stored in line with Data Protection regulations. Share the responsibility with the rest of the Individual Giving team to keep up to date on compliance and data protection issues, flagging concerns as they arise. Any other duties as directed by and agreed with line manager As the scope of Individual Giving activity can change, this role may need to work on other areas or elements of Individual Giving work, as requested. General responsibilities Participate in and support Individual Giving wider plan and strategy through team meetings and project work. Be aware of developments or trends across the charitable sector and wider marketing world. Represent Breast Cancer Now at events and enhance and enhance our profile and reputation with willingness to work some anti-social hours

5 Person Specification Experience We would like you to have the following experience: Experience of working in a results driven environment, such as fundraising, sales or marketing. Experience of delivering activity through agencies. Experience of mass communication marketing to influence an audience. Experience in using Windows-based software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, electronic mail and the internet, in order to deliver tasks and projects.
