2 COMPANY PROFILE Vella s Plant Hire Pty Ltd T/A Vella s Civil is a Mackay based, family owned and managed Quarrying, Civil Construction, Earthworks and Machinery Hire business. Established in 1998, it has provided a high quality service to the Mackay, Whitsunday and Bowen Basin regions. Vella s Civil continues to acquire and develop new deposits for extraction within the region. The Vella s Civil team has acquired quarries to achieve its goal of supplying a comprehensive range of Road Base, Drainage Aggregate, Gabion Rock, Select Fill, Precoat Cover Aggregate, Railway Ballast, Sand, Crusher Dust, General Fill, Farmers Mix, Deco, Soil. Vella s Civil has acquired two main quarries within the region: Walkerston Quarry Palmyra Quarry Farleigh Deco Pit Vella s Plant Hire Palmyra Vella s Civil Walkerston Farleigh Deco Pit

4 QUARRYING Relying on close relationships with customers, Vella s Civil takes pride in providing a variety of quality quarry products, used in a range of construction projects. Palmyra Quarry Vella s Civil started operation at Palmyra Quarry in With the quarry located only approximately 20km out of Mackay. It is in a great central location to be able to provide a time efficient service delivering to all areas. The quarry extracts and produces a vast array of products ranging from 2.4 road base; 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, 16mm, 20mm drainage aggregates; all sized gabion rock; general fill, select fill, farmers mix, scalps and crusher dust. In 2011 Vella s Civil implemented a permanent weigh bridge to its Palmyra Quarry, providing customers with the satisfaction that the quantity of material being delivered was precise. Walkerston Quarry With Vella s Civil starting operation at Walkerston their second quarry in November 2011, it too is in a prime location being located approximately 15km out of Mackay in the small community township of Walkerston. Walkerston Quarry soon became Vella s Civil s largest quarry, extracting and producing a vast arrange of products ranging from:- Type 2 Road Bases:- 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 Drainage Aggregates:- 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, 16mm, 20mm Gabion rock General fill Select fill Farmers mix Scalps Crusher dust Top soil Railway ballast Pre-coated Cover Aggregates:- 7mm, 10mm, 14mm, 16mm and 20mm Walkerston Quarry soon followed suit from Palmyra Quarry implementing a permanent weigh bridge in Both quarries are registered with appropriate local and Queensland Government Departments authorities Department of Transport and Main Roads Certificate # Department of Environment and Heritage Protection Certificate # EPPR

5 MACHINERY / EQUIPMENT HIRE Vella s Civil provide a vast range of plant machinery, support vehicles, equipment and tools that enable them to complete small or large scale projects. Vella s provide either short or long term hire options either wet or dry at competitive rates. All machinery is regularly serviced and maintained by our full time qualified service mechanic team. Vella s Civil provide operators that are Workplace Health and Safety certified, have the experience and the necessary qualifications to operate all our plant and equipment. Vella s have a strong, loyal and mature core workforce who brings a very high level of expertise and knowledge to provide a flexible workforce to meet the requirements of completing a variety of projects for a wide range of clientele. Vella s clientele range from small and large private developers; large locally owned businesses/companies and various local and state Government departments. Vella s continually endeavour to improve project outcomes through their Management Systems. 10 REHABILIATION POLICY Vella s Civil recognises that there are substantial benefits to be gained from rehabilitation principles and practices and is committed to implementing them in accordance with the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation Experience has shown that workplace rehabilitation assists the healing process and helps restore the worker s normal function sooner. Workplace rehabilitation includes early provision of timely and adequate services, including suitable duties programs and aims to:- Maintain injured or ill workers at work. Ensure the workers earliest possible return to work. Maximise the worker s independent functioning. Provide for long-term employment. Vella s Civil holds a current Certificate of Currency with WorkCover Queensland. The Accident Insurance Policy covers the full amount of the employer s liability under the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY Vella s Civil have a policy which is to achieve a high standard of environmental care in conducting its business as a quarry, earthworks and civil construction business. Vella s Civil recognises that a number of its activities can cause adverse impacts to the environment. To address these impacts, Vella s Civil management is committed to:- Incorporating environmental concerns into all documented Safe Work Practices and Procedures. Implementing measures to prevent or minimise pollution, waste and other adverse effects on the environment that Vella s can influence. Adopting a risk management approach to construction activities to assess and management environmental risks. Responding promptly and effectively to any environmental incident or compliant, to minimise any adverse effects on the environmental. It is Vella s Civil policy to specifically:- Ensure that they comply with all applicable law, regulations and standards. Communicate as and when required with government authorities and the community on environmental issues and ensure they contribute to development policies, legislation and regulations that may affect Vella s Civil operation. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations and standards; uphold the spirit of the law; and where laws do not adequately protect the environment, apply standards that minimise any adverse environmental impacts results from its operations, products or services.
