5 W hy is the Library Part of This? Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core concepts of librarianship and library services ALA C ode of Ethics W e provide the highest level of service to all library users through appropriate and usefully organized resources; equitable service policies; equitable access; and accurate, unbiased, and courteous responses to all requests. ALA Core Values of Librarianship W e value our nation's diversity and strive to reflect that diversity by providing a full spectrum of resources and services to the communities we serve. ALA Bill of Rights A person s right to use a library should not be denied or abridged because of origin, age, background, or views.

8 Support from Inclusion & Equity Develop framework that includes priorities and potential focus areas Provide data and other resources to inform the planning process Plan administrators meet regularly with Asst. VP for Strategic Diversity Leadership for support, information sharing and accountability Plan administrators meet at least once per semester with other plan administrators (as a group) for support, information sharing and collaboration Update strategic plan as needed as goals / objectives / action steps are completed. Develop module within CampusLabs to build and house the strategic plans Provide necessary training on CampusLabs system

Focus Area Examples Research involving underrepresented / underserved populations Library Examples Identify C lemson faculty involved in diversity and inclusion-related scholarship and increase outreach efforts to Research and share the complete history of Clemson with regard to diverse populations Host genealogy workshop focusing on African-American genealogy during Black History Month

14 Pillar #5: Strategic Partnerships Building and supporting strategic partnerships that respect diversity, include diverse groups and support the advancement of diversity and inclusion for both.
