Green Building Index (GBI) (1) and MS 1525:2014 The Green Building Index (GBI) is Malaysia s industry recognised green rating tool for buildings to promote sustainability in the built environment and raise awareness among Developers, Architects, Engineers, Planners, Designers, Contractors and the Public about environmental issues and our responsibility to the future generations. The GBI rating tool provides an opportunity for developers and building owners to design and construct green, sustainable buildings that can provide energy savings, water savings, a healthier indoor environment, better connectivity to public transport and the adoption of recycling and greenery for their projects and reduce our impact on the environment. GBI is developed specifically for the Malaysian-tropical climate, environmental and developmental context, cultural and social needs and is created to: 1. Define green buildings by establishing a common language and standard of measurement; 2. Promote integrated, whole-building designs that provides a better environment for all; 3. Recognise and reward environmental leadership; 4. Transform the built environment to reduce its negative environmental impact; and 5. Ensure new buildings remain relevant in the future and existing buildings are refurbished and upgraded to improve the overall quality of our building stock. During one of the seminar joint-organized by Sirim, Mosti & DSM on MS 1525: Code of Practise on Energy Efficiency and Use of Renewable Energy for Non-Residential Buildings, the implementation of these standard MS 1525:2014 will give a good head start to any building to be certified GBI which according to Ir Chen Thiam Leong, will at least gave a passing mark for GBI certification. Series of ISO 9001:2015 training for conversion program. Started with awareness on the major changes, followed by risk assessment which using FMEA method and internal audit (process and risk based approach). This is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and hopefully will benefit the school especially the worker' which is teachers, staffs and students. 5.3 Halal Internal Audit training by IHRAM, USIM on 21 & 22 Jan 17. Trainer from JAKIM Putrajaya and Lecturer USIM/Sirim MS auditor. A real case study discussed during the training which help the participants understand the MS 1500 & MS 1900 requirements. Still a basic issues findings during the JAKIM & Sirim audit, which indicate the level of understanding of organization still below par. 5 5.4 Occupational Ergonomics and Safety in the Office. An introduction to Uyemura Malaysia on 25 Jan 17. A program includes understand the basic of ergonomics and safety in the office, mainly for the office staffs. Involved understanding the hazard found in the office and evaluation of the risk mitigation. 5.5 Seminar Halal Logistics and Warehousing on 8 Feb 17 at Bunker, Johor Bahru. This is among our 1st public series of Halal seminar. Originally plan for one session, however due to good response, we open 2nd session in the afternoon. Total of 33 participants came from 17 companies as far as from Melaka & Subang. It is realy a good sharing session with all the participants which includes consultants, Jakim staff, logistic & warehousing managers. Note: Borrow RQC's Halal trademark 5.6 ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit. GWI conducted an internal audit based on the new revised system on 3, 4 & 5 Jan 17. Briefing for all the auditors and auditees, review on the checklist, comment on the risk & process based approach. Also focus on the legal requirements as subscribed by the organzation. 6 5.7 ESD Awareness, Application & Implementation for Flextronics Senai on 14 & 15 Feb 17. A 2 days training based on ANSI/ESD S and MIL-STD-1686C standards for electronics manufacturing. Cover Product Qualification, Flooring and Footware System, Process Required-Insulators & Isolated Conductors. We also reviewed the main changes of 2014 standard. Then, we also cover ESD audit plan in order to perform inspection and maintain a good culture on ESD application. 5.8 HIRADC at Klana Resort Seremban for ON Semiconductor Sdn Bhd on 15 Feb 17. An actual application training whereby we are using ON Semi's SOP and form related to HIRADC which help the participants understand the concept and finally apply in the company. Eventhough it is 1 day training, with the workshop-based approach, all the participants really work hard on the exercises, quiz and finally determine the risk based on risk selected and apply to actual form.
