2 Section 1. School Identification POSITION DESCRIPTION CAFÉ ASSISTANT School Name Kingsway Christian College, governed by the Kingsway Christian Education Association (KCEA) Inc. Location 157 Kingsway, Darch, 6065 Western Australia Section 2. Mission, Vision and Values Kingsway Christian College is a co-educational non-denominational Christian day school with more than 1400 students enrolled in K-12. The College has a friendly professional team of staff, modern facilities and attractive employment conditions. The College has in place organisational Mission, Vision and Values which reflect the strategic directions of the College governing body, the Kingsway Christian Education Association (KCEA) Inc. At Kingsway, we support and nurture our students so they can excel in their education, strive for excellence and develop their individual character. The College campus technology and infrastructure is designed to support creativity and innovation. The College is committed to providing students with a safe and friendly learning environment, and to this end has in place policies and procedures for the recruitment and screening of staff, suitable to work with children and young people, who meet the selection criteria. Kingsway is an alcohol, illegal drug and tobacco free campus. Kingsway provides a supportive environment for staff and is committed to staff health and well-being through various initiatives including a Wellness Program, an Employee Assistance Program and free staff flu vaccinations. Title Café Assistant The Position Section/Department/Learning Area Property & Services Tenure Commencing Term 3, Fixed term part-time position, subject to the satisfactory completion, by the appointee, of a three (3) month probationary period, to a standard acceptable to the College. Reporting Overall responsibility for the College lies with the Principal supported by the Senior Leadership Team comprising the positions of Executive Business Manager, Deputy Principal (Staff and Administration), K-12, Deputy Principal (Students) K-12, Head of Primary K-6 and the Marketing and Enrolments Manager. The Café Assistant position is responsible to the Café Supervisor. The Property and Services Manager has overall responsibility for café staff. Section 6. Workload Part-time FTE. The café operates five days per week. This position is two days per week during school term time, for approximately 11 hours per week. This position does not operate during school holidays. The Café Assistant is therefore required to stand-down on unpaid leave for 8 weeks of the year. Hours worked are averaged out over the full year to enable payment of a regular fortnightly salary. Section 7. Overview Duties and Responsibilities You are employed as a Café Assistant for the Kingsway Christian College and required to work under the direction and supervision of the Café Supervisor. Christian Values Celebrating and enjoying being a Christian and being part of a Christian community Modelling Christian behaviour, practices and beliefs Building cooperative and supportive relationships with staff, students and parents Striving for excellence in performance and participation Always acting in the best interests of the College, the Association and its ethos Role of the Café Assistant The role of the Café Assistant is to work under the direction and supervision of the Café Supervisor, or delegate, in order to provide high quality nutritious food items for sale, prepared and presented in accordance with acceptable hygiene standards. The Assistant is part of a friendly and helpful team, providing customer service to all levels of the College community including students, staff and parents. Inherent in the position is the ability to do bending and lifting of goods, cleaning of cooking equipment including stove top, benches, warmers and upright oven. These are regular routine tasks essential to the efficient and effective running of the College Café. Specific Duties Under the supervision of the Café Supervisor you are required to: Prepare and assemble food items for sale in accordance with Food Safety Standards Cook menu items according to season Undertake counter sales and customer service to students, staff and parents Supervise volunteer help and, if instructed, provide relevant training Undertake stock control of deliveries and supplies Last edited: 5/06/2018 2:12 PM Page 3 of 5

4 Care for, clean and maintain equipment Keep café clean and maintain required hygiene standards Provide milk supplies and lunch basket service to College staff room daily Undertake associated duties as required by the Café Supervisor In the absence of the Café Supervisor, if instructed: Undertake the normal daily duties as detailed above Undertake responsibility for the Café operations for the day Order supplies for the following day Balance money at the end of the day and deliver to Business Services for banking Occupational Health and Safety You are required to undertake and apply Occupational Health and Safety practices in the workplace to ensure safety of self and others, and comply with College OSH policies and procedures. Section 8. Selection Criteria Pre-requisites 1. To have a valid Department of Education and Training Criminal History Clearance no more than 3 months old. 2. To have or have ability to provide a valid Working With Children Check Card. 3. To provide a written reference from your Church Pastor/Minister. 4. To have or be willing to obtain, a current First Aid (HLTAID004) Certificate. Essential 1. To have a personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ including regular church attendance and a lifestyle consistent with the expectations of Christian faith. 2. Be supportive of the aims, principles and tenets of Kingsway Christian Education Association Inc. at Kingsway Christian College. 3. Excellent communication skills, and ability to relate well to students, parents and staff. 4. Ability to provide high level customer service to all levels of the College community in a busy and demanding work environment. 5. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Food Safety Standards. 6. Demonstrated ability to calculate and handle money. 7. Possess good organisational skills and have ability to prioritise and complete tasks within a required timeframe. 8. Ability to work under supervision, and to supervise parent volunteers if required. 9. Capability to undertake work which is physically demanding. 10. Ability to be flexible in the work arrangements. 5 Section 9. Application Process The successful applicant will be a committed Christian who is able to actively contribute to the Christian ethos of the College. A current reference from the applicant s Pastor or Minister, together with the names and addresses of three referees, must accompany the application.
