3 DURATION: 3 Days SCHEDULE: 04,05&11/07/2014 Supervisory Skills Training (SST) One of Better Work Vietnam s most popular courses, this training is specially designed for supervisors and managers of garment factories. It provides knowledge and skills on effective supervision in the workplace and how best to manage and support workers for mutual gain. Relationship and trust building between supervisors and workers Effective communication with workers Stress management Worker motivation At the end of the course, supervisors will be more knowledgeable and adept in performing their supervision duties across a range of areas, including worker motivation, maintaining discipline, task delegation, and feedback provision. It will give them the skills needed to build trust, confidence and cooperation among negotiating parties and make their communication more effective. Participants on this course will gain a thorough understanding of the use of negotiation skills to achieve win-win situations for all, as well as a solid grounding in the key phases of negotiation in the workplace. 5 Productivity The course will give participants an in-depth understanding of productivity, how to measure it and and how to increase it in the factory. 6 ToT Supervisory Skills Training (ToT SST) The course is aimed at supervisors who have already completed the Supervisory Skills Training courses, and who are going to train other supervisors in their factories. This training will expand the pool of professional supervisors in a factory. They can be able to apply both participatory skills and knowledge content for the successful delivery. Participants will also receive a CD of the training materials. 7 Compensation & Benifits This specially designed course will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to help them design and manage factory payment systems in a fair, equitable and consistent manner, and in accordance with Vietnam s Labor Law. 9 Worker training This innovative and popular course uses soap opera videos and comic books to highlight and educate workers on common issues affecting garment factory workers. The total package is made up of 4 episodes, each of which lasts around 45 minutes, which are accompanied by interactive discussions on the topics covered SCHEDULE: TIME: 1 hour (Episodes 1&2 will be conducted together) VENUE: At factory Episode 1: Episode 2: Episode 3: Episode 4: Grievance handling Dispute resolution and legal strikes Stealing at workplace Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) By taking this course, workers will deepen their understanding of their roles and responsibilities at the workplace in an interactive and enjoyable setting. By watching videos and reading comics, workers will be able to better relate the training to their own experiences at factories, and group discussions will allow them to share experiences and improve their communication and cooperation skills FEE: USD 300/episode/factory * A discount of 10% will be made if a factory registers from 2 episodes. CLASS SIZE: 50 to 400 participants PARTICIPANTS: Workers, supervisors, production managers and union representatives of garment factories CONTACT & REGISTRATION: This course offers workers an enjoyable and relaxing learning experience using multiple delivery tools. Participants begin by watching the soap opera videos, before being asked to discuss and explore solutions to the dilemmas and challenges identified. Copies of comic books are then distributed to workers to read at the end of the training. Venue for the Worker training course shall be subject to arrangement by Factory and Better Work Vietnam.

10 SCHEDULE: Quality This course will help participants better understand the definition and importance of quality in their factory, and will coach them on how best to establish quality-oriented policies and systems-based approaches to quality. 11 Occupational safety and Health (OSH) This course builds awareness of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) as an integral part of factory management. Focusing on a preventative approach to OSH including risk mapping, it guides participants on how to spot hazards, how to meet national and international standards and the role of the OSH committee. 12 Worker induction Training of trainer The course offers important strategies and methods to conduct successful orientation trainings for new staff and workers. Participants will each receive a specially designed training kit for trainers by Better Work Vietnam so that they can apply their induction skills in their workplace. This training covers 7 key topics with specific instructions on how to apply the learner-centred training approach and the training kit for trainers 1. Job 2. Starting a job 3. During the job 4. Conflict-solving 5. Workplace safety 6. Harrastment and discrimination 7. Child labor and forced labor By the end of this course, participants will be able to explain the importance of worker induction, define appropriate training methodologies and identify suitable facilitation skills for worker induction training. They will also be able to use the Better Work worker induction material and apply it in practical induction settings. 13 Labor Law Guide The course is designed to ensure participants a strong understanding of Vietnam s Labor Law. By attending the course, the participants can be able to support their factories with their implementation of the Law.
