6 JOHN RADEBAUGH John started his credit union career on the board of directors and supervisory committee at Freedom 1st FCU on McConnell AFB, Kansas. He spent over 25 years serving credit unions at trade associations in KS, NM and NC receiving many accolades along the way. After serving 15 years as president and CEO for the Carolinas Credit Union League, John retired in July Session I: Board of Directors: Duties & Responsibilities Directors have a tremendous responsibility to their members. Knowing your obligations as a director will help you fulfill this important role. This session takes you through those duties and responsibilities and gives you the confidence to better perform in your role. Session II: Best Practices for Board/CEO Relationships Successful credit unions have boards and CEOs that work well together. Whether you re new to the board or a veteran, this session gives you best practices, tips, and tools to achieve a great relationship with your CEO. DENISE RYAN Denise is an author, an MBA and a CSP (Certified Speaking Professional). She has spoken to audiences across North America, with clients such as Hilton Hotels, IBM, and the US Department of Homeland Security. Recently, she made Meeting & Convention Magazine s list of planners favorite speakers alongside Bill Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, and Anderson Cooper. Session: How to Communicate with Everyone Who Isn t You Get ready. Denise is going to quiz you on your communication style. Why? So, you can you can know your own style and through interactive exercises, figure out how to better engage with everyone who isn t you. This session promises laughter, fun and learning for all. STEVE SCHILTZ Steve is a principal at CliftonLarsonAllen. He began his career with the accountancy firm in August Over the years, Steve has gained extensive experience providing assurance and consulting services to credit unions and CUSOs, and shares his knowledge through national speaking engagements. SPEAKERS Sunrise Specials: CECL for Supervisory Committee & Board of Directors The current expected credit loss (CECL) model fundamentally changes the allowance for loan and lease loss calculation to a lifetime loss estimate. This special session provides an overview of the new accounting standard, recent regulatory guidance, and possible methodologies. CU Hot Topics & Speaker Showcase The industry landscape changes annually through new rules, regulations, accounting standards, and the economic environment. This session provides key insight into regulator priorities, market trends, and other hot topics impacting credit unions in 2019 and beyond. SE

He brings extensive experience in training, designing and implementing professional development resources to nourish the growth of leaders within the credit union industry. He is co-author of A Credit Union Guide to Strategic Governance. This essential book helps governance teams become as effective as possible. Session II: The Board Calibration Process: Alignment for Higher Performance CU boards spend plenty of time in discussion and debate. It s familiar territory. But what if the board could go through a regular alignment process that would reduce friction, increase performance and create a more efficient group? This session teaches you this calibration process, which can further help your credit union operate efficiently under the same vision and direction. SSIONS MAURICE SMITH A self-proclaimed cooperative nerd, Maurice has served as CEO of Local Government Federal Credit Union (LGFCU) since Prior to joining LGFCU, he began his career in financial services as a loan officer for State Employees CU. He is the chairman for the CUNA Board of Directors and has served on many national and local boards over the course of his career. 7 Session I: Examiner Issues for Supervisory Committee The supervisory committee must have a handle on where to spend its time efficiently. This session provides an overview of prominent examiner issues and preps you to ask your staff and board the right questions to ensure proper controls are in place. Session III: Best Practices of the Modern Credit Union Board Of course, every board is different. We re talking about humans after all. But there are reliable & researched rules of thumb that raise the performance of boards. Hear about practices that are tried and proven across a variety of board sizes and types. Make sure that you re working smart and efficiently for your members and for the credit union. Session I: Board Governance New expectations are being placed on boards in critical areas of oversight, risk management, board succession, compliance, and responsiveness to communication with members. This program addresses key corporate governance issues faced by credit union boards. Session II: Succession Planning Succession planning is the process by which an organization prepares for the inevitable transition of leadership. This program explores the legal responsibilities of succession planning and outlines some tools that boards may employ to ensure a smooth sequence of changes.

10 R E G IS T R A T IO N COST Rates before April 1, 2019: Interior Staterooms: $875/person Oceanview Staterooms: $945/person Balcony Staterooms: $1,060/person Cost Example: One interior stateroom for two (2) people is $875 per person for a total of $1750; or one (1) person for $1750. Rates after April 1, 2019: All rooms increase by $100 per person and cabin availability becomes very limited. Pricing includes meals, port and federal taxes, gratuities, and all credit union educational programming. 10 HOW TO REGISTER 1 Register online at carolinasleague.org/cruise. Please ensure all information pertains to YOU the individual attending. This includes your contact information ( address and phone number). Be sure to enter your legal name, address, etc. as it appears on your passport. Note: If you are a third party registering on someone s behalf, be sure to provide THEIR information. You may list yourself as an alternate point of contact. 2 A booking ID will be provided approximately 4 weeks prior to departure to complete your online check-in on Carnival s website. Once check-in is complete, participants may also prebook any additional cruise amenities such as shore excursions, spa appointments, specialty dining, etc. Passport information is required for online check-in on Carnival s website. 11 Due to the unique nature of this event, all reservations will be subject to the following cancellation policy: Between the date of booking and March 30, 2019 $375 per reservation cancellation fee. Between March 31 and April 30, % of the total stateroom cost cancellation fee. Between May 1 and May 31, % of total stateroom cost cancellation fee. On or after June 1, no refunds will be issued. Substitutions are welcome, however, any name changes after June 17, 2019 are subject to a $52 fee per Carnival Cruise lines. Please Note: Cancellation dates are based on Eastern Time. Cancellations must be submitted via to development@ carolinasleague.org. No refunds will be made in the event of interruption or cancellation by any passenger after the commencement of the cruise. No refunds will be given for no-shows. Any adjustment to the above policy is at the sole discretion of CCUL.
