2 Project Overview Colorado Research Team: Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade University of Colorado, Leeds School of Bsiness, Bsiness Research Division The following organizations were instrmental in the spport of this analysis: Anschtz Fondation, El Pomar Fondation, Gates Family Fondation, and Tellride Fondation.

3 Project Overview The primary prpose of the project was to stdy identifiable factors that differentiate a path of sccess for commnities. Secondary data stdied for the analysis. Primary research garnered throgh focs grops and interviews in select conties. Goal: to nderstand what makes some commnities in Colorado thrive while others fail to retain poplation and sstain economic growth.

4 Case Stdies: Salida and Drango To gain a better nderstanding of the perceived drivers of economic resiliency in a rral commnity, the research team performed in-depth stdies. Varios commnity leaders and key stakeholders were interviewed. Dring the process, the research team delved deeper into the previosly identified drivers of and hindrances to resiliency in a commnity.
