1 Director of Youth Programming for Theatre Ancaster Start Date: June 1 st, 2014 (Job shadowing March June, Probationary period of 1 year for a total 3 year term) Yearly Pay: $2500 to be apportioned as negotiated lump sums between June 1 st and May 31 st. Job Duties: Contract Employee This is a three-year position, including a probationary period of one year. At the end of the probationary period, if the applicant is satisfying the job requirements, they will continue in the position for another two years. After three years, the applicant will re-apply to this position if they wish to continue working for Theatre Ancaster. This employee reports directly to the President of Theatre Ancaster, the Board of Directors and also works in conjunction with the company Treasurer and Youth Program Administrator. Key Skill Requirements: Professional communication skills, (verbal and oral); Problem solver, decision making skills; Organizational skills including chairing meetings, taking minutes if needed, sharing information as needed; Leadership skills working with small and large groups of adults and teens; Management experience preferable; Computer proficiency preferred; Passionate about the arts and furthering the mandates of Theatre Ancaster in the community; Advocate for Youth Programs on the BOD and in the community; Skills in developing youth leaders; Experience growing programs. Educational Background: Completion of a Post-Secondary University degree in the Humanities, Arts or similar subject area; Bachelor of Education recommended, but not required; Should have a minimum of three years teaching experience with youth. Specific Duties include: Staffing and communications; Handling finances; Advertising/Marketing/Outreach; Program planning. Responsibilities to the Board of Directors: Full voting member on the Theatre Ancaster Board of Directors (BOD); Reports directly to the BOD about youth programming and staff ; Position and responsibilities reviewed, updated and evaluated annually by President and BOD; Build, layout and edit the Annual Budget Report with the Administrator of Youth Programming. This employee reports directly to the Director of Youth Programming for Theatre Ancaster and also works closely with the company Treasurer, President and Program Directors. Key Skill Requirements: Professional communication skills, both written and verbal; Problem solving skills; Strong organizational skills including attention to detail, inventory and office and program management; Leadership skills, working with small and large groups of adults, teens and children; Computer proficiency including using the Internet, spreadsheets, word processing, basic graphic layouts and archiving e-files, storing photos and videos and updating computer software as required; Basic money management/budgeting skills/record keeping; Trustworthiness with Theatre Ancaster finances and sensitive correspondence with employees and participants; Passionate about the arts and furthering the mandates of Theatre Ancaster in the community. Educational Background: Must be over 18 years of age to apply; Must have some Post-Secondary background (College or University diploma or degree). Specific Duties include: Communication with parents, staff, graphic artist, department heads, and Board of Directors; Office management; Handling finances; Job hiring and training; Program registration; Managing Summer Child Care service. 3 Graphic Artist Start Date: June 1 st, 2014 Pay: $100-$200 per project design. Approximately 5-6 $100 contracts, and 2-3 $200 contracts between Jun & Feb Job Duties: Contract Employee This position is to be held on a project to project basis. Retention is based on quality of work, and level of job performance based on peer review. This employee reports directly to the Youth Programming Administrator for Theatre Ancaster. It is potentially a part-time, year-round job for a student of graphic design. Duties Include: creation of logo to be used on t-shirts, tickets and programs (need full colour, black and gray scale versions) creation of poster (8.5x11 size and 11x17 size) must provide proofs and revisions of logo until staff is satisfied with the final product communication with Youth Programming Administrator Key Skill Requirements: artwork should be created using a vector based software (Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Corel Draw) to ensure easy scaling of the artwork will no loss of quality meeting deadlines communicating and understanding needs has regular access to a computer, off site independent work required computer proficiency Educational Background: (recommended) senior Secondary or College student (recommended) enrollment in a graphic design class/program will be completed by the end of March. This position does not require a Vulnerable Sector Check nor does it require attendance at training sessions or performances.

4 Jitterbugs Camp (campers ages 3 ½ - 6) Camp Location Duration: Mon-Fri, 8:30 am 12:30 pm Additional Show Days: 12:30 pm 6:30 pm July 11, July 25, Aug 8 Head Instructors 4 Positions ($1830 salary) Qualified in ONE of Music, Drama, Dance, or Arts & Crafts Instruction Experience with children ages 3 ½ to 6 in a formal setting Ability to interact and sustain interactive story telling, singing and arts and crafts activities Fair and loving problem solving skills with youngsters, camp experience preferred Must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent Associate Instructors 3 Positions ($1440 salary) Grade 9 student or older interested in developing their skills working with youth Creative, outgoing student with fair and loving problem solving skills Experience with children ages 3 ½ to 6 an asset Passion for the arts dancing, singing, drama an asset **All positions include mandatory attendance at the performances on Friday July 11, July 25, and Aug 8, 2014, a take-down day on Aug 10 th, as well as two required training sessions between April and June prior to camp. will be completed by the end of March. 5 Junior/Intermediate/Senior Camp (campers ages 7-15) * Camp Location Duration: Mon-Fri 8:30 am 4:00 pm Additional Show Days: 12 pm 7 pm July 12, July 26, Aug 9 Ryerson United Church Two two-week sessions (A,B): 265 Wilson Street E., Ancaster July 7 18, July 21 Aug 1 July 19 & August 2 * Separate staff will be hired for each location * Head Instructors 6 Positions (6 week contract: $3375 salary, 4 week contract: $2250 salary) Qualified in ONE of Music, Drama or Dance Instruction Experience creating and executing lesson plans Team Player with leadership and motivational skills Enthusiastic, outgoing person, camp experience preferred Must have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent (as of June 2014) * Site leader: One of the 3 Head Instructors from each site will be appointed to manage their respective camp locations in addition to their normal Head Instructor duties. Includes a pay increase of $125 biweekly Past team management experiences are essential to this position; Prior Theatre Ancaster job experience is preferred. Associate Instructor 6 Positions (6 week contract: $2700 salary, 4 week contract: $1800 salary) Experience in drama, music or dance Team Player with leadership and motivational skills Enthusiastic, outgoing person, camp experience preferred Must have completed grade 10 (as of June 2014) All positions include mandatory attendance at their respective camp s performances (these take place on a Saturday, see dates above), and a take-down day on Aug 3 rd (Ryerson site) or Aug 10 th (Firehall site), as well as two required training sessions between April and June prior to camp. will be completed by the end of March. A portfolio sample will be requested at the interview. Works well in a team and independently Organization and time management skills Experience working with kids (recommended but not essential) This position requires participation in both the Jitterbugs and the JIS camps (both locations) on a modified hourly schedule. Majority of time is spent at camp, while some time is allotted for work at home (editing videos and burning dvds) Is required to work on all performance days for all camps, (July 11,12, 19, 25, 26, Aug 2, 8, 9) All positions include mandatory attendance at the take-down day on Aug 10 th, and two required training sessions between April and June prior to camp. will be completed by the end of March.
