5 HUNTINGDONSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL The Council has embarked on an ambitious transformation programme, MOSAIC, aimed at improving our service performance and outcomes in order to best meet the changing needs of our communities. We are focusing on a number of workstreams including the customer; our people; business; commercial; and work-smart in order to drive this whole-council programme of improvement. In the Community division, our vision is the provision of a suite of services which are performing to the best of their ability, are customer-centred and support all of our communities, including providing support to our business community through effective and proportionate regulation. HDC Headquarters. Pathfinder House, Huntingdon We have recently restructured Community services into two main areas: People and Business, each focussing on different elements. The People Team includes Environmental Protection, Community Development and Community Enforcement while the Business Team covers Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and Licensing. A combined Business Support team provides administrative support to the whole service. Within these teams, we encourage staff to develop and maintain specialisms but we also offer the opportunity to develop and maintain skill sets in different subject areas to promote staff learning and service resilience. 5

6 WORKING HERE Our staff benefit from modern office space, mobile and flexible working arrangements and a commitment to provide continuous development opportunities. A flexi-time scheme allows staff to programme their work in a way which fits in with family life and we are open to flexible work arrangements including job share, part time work and annualised hours working. We are in the process of changing our IT systems to allow fully mobile working across the whole district. All staff have the opportunity to make a difference and contribute to our improvement programme through a combination of service-specific projects and corporate workstreams. This can range from working on in-service LEAN reviews to modernise and streamline procedures to contributing to projects which affect the whole organisation. We take personal development seriously, with every staff member having a regularly reviewed performance and appraisal plan which explicitly shows the development needs and how these are to be met.
