Cedar Avenue, Suite D-1 Flagstaff, AZ JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: REPORTS TO: STATUS: Vice President of Community Impact President/CEO Exempt, Full-time SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the UWNA President/CEO this position plans, manages, coordinates and implements all aspects of Community Impact efforts. Responsible for coalition building, neighborhood and funding collaborations, multi-sector partnerships and relationship building, public policy analysis and position development, and data collection, management and reporting. Represents the organization on governmental commissions, human service task forces, and Education, Income and Health initiatives. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Education, Health and Income Initiatives: 65% Research information and data to identify/explain major trends, problems, causes affecting the community; evaluates information and recommends solutions. Participate in the development of a strategic plan for Education, Health and Income Community Impact Initiatives. Identify, review and develop Education, Health and Income initiatives. Identify, monitor and report key indicators measuring the effectiveness of Education, Health and Income initiatives and investments. Develop and recommend the most appropriate community programs, events, or plans that provide positive visibility and exposure for the organization. Ensure organization s involvement with area funders in the private, not-for-profit, governmental and business sectors, and with human service providers to facilitate joint programming, reporting and accountabilities, area-wide collaborative and cooperative fund distribution and outcomes development. Collaborate with RD, Marketing and CRM staff to achieve the organization s Education, Income and Health objectives: develop and recommend the most appropriate community programs, events, or plans that provide positive visibility and exposure for the organization. Generate revenue through cultivation of potential funding sources; grant writing and fee for service contracts. Prepare functional area budget, monitor income projections and effectively manage expenditures. 1

2 Recruit, train, coach, supervise and evaluate Education, Income and Health program and administrative staff. Provide lead staff support to the Education, Income and Health Impact Committees. Provide staff leadership to the Read On Flagstaff initiative, VITA initiative, and any other initiatives including sub-contracts; supervision, training and development of staff; coordination of evaluation, mobilization of volunteers and partners. Ensure successful implementation of grants and contracts for Education, Income and Health initiatives to include timely compliance and reporting (KinderCamp, Helios, Read On Flagstaff, First Things First, VITA, etc.) Ensure seamless integration of Education, Income and Health investments, programs, and communication into the Community Investment process. Provide for research, preparation and presentation of necessary reports. Community Impact Investment Process: 15% Provide leadership in the design of Community Impact Investment Policy and Procedure. Ensure integration of Community Impact Investment activities in alignment with Education, Income and Health Impact goals, strategies and priorities. Manage the Community Impact Investment RFP process, and CTK reporting process. Provide lead staff support to the Community Impact Investment Committee and process. Establish and maintain strong, positive and productive working relationships with current and potential human service provider partners. Provide direction to Community Impact Investment staff and volunteers to ensure quality and continuity of community leadership. Identify volunteers needed to meet organizational goals for Community Impact Investment; recruit, train and manage those volunteers using superior application of constituent relationship management practices. Grant Administration: 15% Monitor and account for Education grant awards to ensure proper tracking of funds in accordance with grant requirements and donor restrictions. Responsible for Education, Income and Health grant budgeting, financial reporting and forecasting. Coordinate all financial relationships for Education, Income and Health grants, including bank accounts, reports, and other as needed. Oversee grants management finance functions, including billing and receipt processes. Other: 5% Other areas as assigned by President/CEO. 2

3 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience in a leadership role within an organization and or community setting. Experience in recruiting, hiring, motivating, and supervising staff in a team environment. Thorough knowledge of public and non-profit sectors and specific institutions addressing education, economic, health and social service needs in Arizona. Experience developing and implementing community collaborations, and working in collaboration with other individuals and organizations. Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal government. Experience developing and implementing public policy advocacy strategies. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, including: grant applications; funding proposals; business plans; reports and making speeches and other presentations. Strong group facilitation and conflict resolution skills. Thorough knowledge of and experience documenting and communicating program and community level outcomes. Ability to evaluate organizational operations as they relate to policies, goals and objectives, costs, and staffing levels. Knowledge of business, leadership, management, marketing, branding and financial principles and practices. Thorough knowledge of and experience developing and implementing strategic plans with multiple, complex tasks and projects. Ability to listen deeply and respond in a culturally sensitive manner. Ability to recognize opportunities, analyze problems, develop and implement creative solutions. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, flexibility, judgment, discretion, and decision-making. 3
