This position consists primarily of field work with occasional office work providing support for District well drilling and coring operations. Operates drilling and ancillary equipment for the purpose of lithologic coring, packer testing, and the construction of monitor wells. Mixes drilling fluid components and grouting materials following established procedures. Performs necessary calculations involved in cementing well casing. Collects and labels geologic samples, measures water levels, and collects water quality samples. Secures permits and other documents as required. Orders supplies and maintains an inventory of equipment and materials. Performs routine and preventative maintenance on core rigs and other equipment. Fabricates equipment and performs welding when necessary. Essential Functions Operates District-owned drilling equipment to construct monitor wells and/or oversees the construction of monitor wells by contracted drilling firms, in compliance with District rules and regulations. Mixes drilling fluid components and grouting materials. Orders supplies and maintains an inventory of equipment and material.

2 Transports drilling equipment and assists with loading, unloading, setting up, and/or retrieving of related materials and supplies. Assists with logistical support on well construction contracts and aquifer performance tests. Communicates directly with Field Supervisor and site geologist on daily progress. Completes daily drilling logs accurately describing the activities and amount of time spent to complete tasks. Working Conditions The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In-field: Most work is conducted in the field, often at remote and undeveloped project well sites and frequently under adverse weather conditions. Work routinely requires a considerable amount of travel and extended work hours. This position will require frequent travel to project well sites throughout the sixteen-county area of the District. May be exposed to extremes in elements, temperature and humidity, and to a variety of pests, including mosquitoes and ticks. Must be able to bend, lift, carry, and reach above shoulder level. May frequently require the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle for extended periods, some driving may be in off-road (4x4) conditions. May be required to operate all terrain vehicles (ATV). Required to operate a trailer, as well as load and unload relatively heavy and cumbersome field equipment. In-office: Some work is conducted in an office environment. Standard office environment and equipment such as personal computer, copier, etc. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding and driving) with one or both hands and feet is required. Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours, or required to be on call, including on nights, weekends or holidays, to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District Operations. Additional Details This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, out of the Brooksville or Tampa, FL office. Office location is contingent upon the hiring authority and the

3 successful candidate. This position is eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 hours in a week. Travel Requirements: Using a District vehicle, this position will require frequent travel to project well sites throughout the sixteen-county area of the District. Overnight stays are required for work conducted at project sites more than 50 miles from the employee s home office. Projects can last from six to eight months in duration. All applicants selected for employment in positions requiring possession of a Commercial Drivers License or designated as a safety sensitive position must undergo testing for controlled substances after an offer of employment. This opportunity is designated as a safety sensitive position which requires pre-employment drug testing. The selected candidate's offer will be contingent upon completing a satisfactory drug test. This position also requires participation in the District's random drug and alcohol selection program. As such, the employee may be selected at random for drug &/or alcohol testing at any time with little to no advanced notice.
