2 ADVERT TASTINGS & EVENTS CO-ORDINATOR PERMANENT, FULL TIME Based within our Tastings & Events team and reporting directly to the Tastings & Events Manager, you will be responsible for: Developing tasting themes and events that fulfil the Society strategic requirements Taking responsibility for agreed sections of the tasting programme from concept through budgeting to implementation Ensuring that each event is hosted with confidence, knowledge and authority; in practice the role-holder is expected to host a large proportion of the programme Working closely with other members of the tasting and events team to assist with the smooth running of the team and programme Copy writing (publicity, tasting notes, news items) Dealing professionally and competently with member queries and feedback Organise supplier attendance at tastings, acting as their host on behalf of The Society Candidates must have: Focus and experience in delivering high levels of service quality Experience of public speaking Highly developed written and verbal communication skills Ability to prepare and deliver presentations to all group sizes WSET Level 3 qualification Full valid driving licence and be comfortable driving Society vehicles Strong interpersonal skills Willingness to undertake frequent travel including regular overnight stays

3 THE WINE SOCIETY JOB DESCRIPTION Job title: Tasting and Events Co-ordinator Department: Tastings & Events Reports to: Tasting & Events Manager Job purpose: To plan, organise and implement first class tastings and events for members and their guests; increasing member engagement and satisfaction with their Society. Main duties: Develop tasting themes and events that fulfil the Society strategic requirements Take responsibility for agreed sections of the tasting programme from concept through budgeting to implementation Ensure that each event is hosted with confidence, knowledge and authority; in practice the role-holder is expected to host a large proportion of the programme Work closely with other members of the tasting and events team to assist with the smooth running of the team and programme. Offer support and guidance to junior members of the team Offer input into the construction of the events programme, including feedback from members at events. Suggesting improvements both to the quality of events and to the programme as a whole Oversee all aspects of allocated event coordination, including organising staff and buyer attendance. Ensuring events are conducted within budget Copy writing (publicity, tasting notes, news items)

4 To deal professionally and competently with member queries and feedback Organise supplier attendance at tastings, acting as their host on behalf of The Society Other duties: Monitor and learn from competitor activity First Aider This is a hands-on role which requires: Regular travel and overnights away Driving, usually in a company van Setting up events (involves manual handling Evening and weekend work Accountability: For the standards of service experienced by members attending Society Tastings and Events For ensuring pre agreed budgets for events are adhered to Health and Safety: All employees have a responsibility to carry out their work in a safe manner, reporting any incidents or problems to their Team Leader or Manager and taking all reasonable steps to minimise risk to both self and others. Variation: The Society reserves the right to make reasonable variations or amendments to the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the business.
