1 TestWiz How do I compare student performance on similar tests? Introduction: If you have tests that are similar (i.e. they have the same subtests and types of scores), you may easily compare the scores on these tests for each student in a class or school. Use the 2.8 Class - Multi-Test List report or the 3.10 School - Multi-Test List report to see each student and their individual scores on up to five test administrations. The Multi-Test List reports also include class or school averages (or median scores) for each test administration. Example: Comparison of two tests for Students in a Class This section provides step-by-step instructions for creating a 2.8 Class - Multi-Test List report. This particular example shows a comparison of Percent Correct scores on a math pre-test and a math post-test. Note: The steps are the same for a 3.10 School - Multi-Test List report, except for the selection of the Report Type. Note: For general instructions on creating any report, refer to Viewing and Printing Reports, accessible by clicking Help Documents from the left side of the TestWiz home page. Step 1 - Select a primary test and a 2.8 Class: Multi-Test List report 1. Click Select a Test for Reporting from the top menu bar. 2. Choose one of the tests you are interested in from the Select a Test for Reporting screen. This is called the Primary Test. 3. From the main Create Reports screen, set the Reporting Group to Class. For the Report Type, choose 2.8 Class - Multi-Test List Certica Solutions, Inc. All rights reserved. 2 Step 2 - Select additional tests 1. Click on the Multi-Test parameter button. 2. The Select Additional Tests and Population page appears. It lists other tests to choose for the report. The list is controlled by the Population setting on this page. By default, the Population on this page is set to All Students. This makes the list of tests in the Select Additional Tests section include tests that have any of the same subtests and scores, regardless of whether the tests were taken by the students. If you choose Cohort instead, the list of tests to choose from only includes tests that have similar subtests and scores and were taken by at least one of the students who also took the primary test. Note: For this report, the Population setting does not control which students are included in the Compare Student Performance on Similar Tests Page 2

3 report. Whether you choose All Students or Cohort, the report shows all the students who took the Primary Test, regardless of whether they also took any of the additional tests. 3. In the Select Additional Tests section at the bottom, select the other tests you want to include on the report. The tests you select become listed in the top section titled Additional Tests. You may select up to four other tests to include on the report. Note: You can filter the list of tests, if necessary, before selecting tests. Use the filters for Grade, Name, dates ( From and To ), or Test Purpose(s) in the Find and Select Additional Tests section, and click Find. Then select the tests. 4. Click OK to return to the Create Reports page. Compare Student Performance on Similar Tests Page 3

5 Click the PDF option at the top of the screen for a printable and more fully formatted version of the report. Customizing the report: Score: To control which score appears on the report, use the Display Score parameter. Subtests: By default, all the subtests in the Primary Test appear on the report. If the Primary Test has multiple subtests and you do not want them all on the report, use the Subtests parameter to de-select any unwanted subtests. Note: Subtests that are not in the Primary Test (but are in one of the additional selected tests) do not appear on the report. Other Parameters: You may use other available parameters to change the report as well. For example, you may use the Special Code Filter parameter to limit the report to only students in special programs or having specific demographics. Compare Student Performance on Similar Tests Page 5
