1 The Leicestershire College Job Description 1. Job Details Job Title: Nursery Manager Competency Level: Business Support 3 Job Number: Reporting To: TBC Department: Nursery Annual Salary (FTE): 31,526 per annum Date: October Job Purpose Oversee the operation of all provisions to the highest standards, ensuring that the best possible environment and care are provided for young children 3. Dimensions A) Overall Responsibility for the day to day care of approx. 150 children of a variety of ages across three different locations. B) Line Management for over forty staff. C) OFSTED lead with overall responsibility for 3 separate OFSTED inspection programmes. 4. Key Responsibilities Overall day to day management responsibility of the full day care nursery, holiday and out of school clubs known as Radmoor Childcare. To be responsible for the efficient running of Radmoor Childcare and overall delivery of a high quality service. Plan for, and manage the commercial success of the settings through good budget control including, responsibility for procurement using the College ordering system Financial Work within the constraints of a set budget. Monitoring income and expenditure Support Business planning Short Term and Long Term identifying future projects to generate income Liaise with LCC to ensure eligibility of parents claiming 30 hour funding and regularly reviewing eligibility Owner: HR Page 1 of 5 Next Review: August 2019

2 Ensure that all funding stream reporting SEND, EYPP, 2,3, 4 year funding (15/30hours) head counts and mid- term adjustments are accurately claimed and maintained Student Funding LSF, CTL, SFE and Tax Credits Invoicing for all the Out of School Clubs Support Leicestershire County Councils funding Audits Ensure Nursery Milk Reimbursement Claims are actioned Monthly meetings with Finance to review accounts, identifying any outstanding payments and chasing these up Regular meetings with Line Manager to discuss the business Approving hourly pay claims Recruitment and Staffing Ensuring that recruitment is in line with The Leicestershire College s recruitment process Record of DBS, staff qualifications and any employment related records are accurately maintained Responsible for staff inductions CPD To manage, supervise and support Radmoor Childcare staff through observations, planning, self- - reflection and appraisals, identifying any further training needs To ensure that, where required, staff plan an appropriate play based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to learn and make individual progress Ensure that all environments are safe, warm, welcoming, and stimulating Ensure that staffing rotas are maintained to reflect recognised staffing ratios required Annual Leave and Sickness reporting and monitoring Staff Meetings Parents Evenings Fund Raising Events To ensure all staff understand and work to the provisions policy and procedures, including how to handle child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies Support all learners on placement Monitoring of child development through trackers and cohort analysis Health and Safety Undertake the role of DSL Support all Ofsted Inspections Support any Safeguarding investigations by Social Care Ensure that all staff are continually updated with Safeguarding Information- Competency Logs Ensure all records relating to the children are properly maintained in accordance with Ofsted, Radmoor Childcare Policies, Procedures and GDPR Risk Assessments SEND Environmental Health Support Inspections - Safer Food Better Business Log Paediatric First Aid updates Auto injector Training To work with other professionals for the benefit of children and families To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about Radmoor Childcare and its curriculum, exchanging information about children s progress and encouraging parental involvement. 3 5. Key Result Areas Action 1. Ensure the overall quality of care for all children who attend one of the services provided by Radmoor Childcare 2. Ensure the highest standards of health, safety and safeguarding. 3. Develop, track and take appropriate action to ensure annual budgets are met 4. Create a long-term business plan to deliver a sustainable business taking in to account changes in legislation, funding, demographics etc. 5. Develop and control the process to improve the Finance and MIS functions within the Nursery 6. Effectively leading and managing the staffing team including recruitment and retention, providing day to day guidance, training and support Result 1. All children within the responsibility of the nursery have an appropriate standard of care. 2. The safety and wellbeing of well over a hundred children is ensured. 3. Nursery meets budget set out as part of the business planning process. 4. The annual budgets will provide the immediate needs and priorities, whilst the long-term plan will business priorities such as investment requirements, staffing etc. 5. Key business functions within the nursery are maintained and improved to meet the changing needs of the organisation. 6. Effective management of staff 6. Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Person Specification) QUALIFICATIONS ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE HOW ASSESSED 1 Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE) with extensive post qualifying experience Application / 2 Significant management experience in a childcare setting Application / 3 Safeguarding for Leaders/Managers Application/ 4 12 Hour Paediatric First Aid Application/ 5 Possess qualifications in Maths and English Levels 4-9 (GCSE Grades A-C) or equivalent EXPERIENCE 6 Proven track record of involvement in supporting Ofsted Inspections resulting in a Good or Outstanding Grade Application/ Application / 7 Experience of effectively leading and managing a team including recruitment and retention, providing day to day guidance, training and support 8 Experience of working in a large or multilocation setting 9 Experience of financial aspects of the role e.g. Budgeting, Funding streams, Grant applications, Fundraising SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE 10 Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities / SEND Code of Practice 11 A Deep understanding of children's development, together with the EYFS Curriculum and knowledge of leading and supporting teams and the overall day to day running of a nursery 12 Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines 13 The drive and enthusiasm to lead and inspire a team to deliver outstanding childcare and to support a strong partnership with parents Application / Application / Application / Application / Owner: HR Page 4 of 5 Next Review: August 2019
