1 JOB TITLE: Operations Manager LOCATION: LONDON RESPONSIBLE TO: Head of Operations RESPONSIBLE FOR: Prince s Trust Executive (s)/ ERDF Executives BAND: Upper Band 4 The Prince s Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed. It supports 11 to 30 year-olds to help them get their lives on track by developing the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn. CONTEXT OF THE ROLE: The Prince s Trust supports young people through teams of staff, volunteers and delivery partners in six regions across the UK. Each of the regions and Countries has a Director and an Executive Management Team. Young people are supported through a variety of core programmes which focus on skills for life and skills for work. The Trust is constantly innovating and developing new initiatives such as supporting young people online to start their own business or prepare for a job interview. As an Operations Manager you will have experience of both leadership and operations delivery. You will manage a multi-disciplined team to drive the quality of our support to young people in response to local need. An effective communicator and strong relationship manager you will champion change and develop impactful teamwork to deliver results. We are looking for individuals who are positive, empowering, resilient, strong performance managers and can build team wellbeing. The Operations Manager will lead a team including colleagues, volunteers and delivery partners to support young people, typically across a geography within a region/country. They work closely with their team to develop and implement a delivery plan and targets for their geographical area, to connect, progress and help transform the lives of young people who need us most. Working pan London, leading a team of 6/7 Executives to support over 300 young people per year to launch, sustain and grow their business through workshops, growth opportunities and business planning support. The day to day role is varied and fast paced, working closely with businesses offering an independent and impartial service, identifying current and future business needs in relation to their business aspirations, sustainability and growth. The role will identify opportunities for building and managing business partnerships and future developments in project and contract management. KEY CONTACTS: National Operations, Local internal teams including; Operations Teams; Fundraising; Contract Management; Finance, Operations Support, Safeguarding and Health & Safety. Additionally there may be external relationships to manage including Delivery and Referral Partner staff. SUCCESS CRITERIA: 1. Lead their team and collaborate with regional colleagues to develop and implement a delivery plan and targets for their local area utilizing performance and evaluation data,

2 ensuring the success of our national strategy to help young people transform their lives by developing the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn; 2. Lead the effective recruitment, training and management of the team to support new and existing ERDF supported clients; carry out specialist workshops, action plans and 121 s. KPI s & Budget experience. Enable the delivery of solutions and initiatives to ensure all requirements and outputs are achieved in line with agreed performance plan. 3. Working closely with Business Mentors and Operations Executives to identify businesses with the ability to grow or at risk of closure. To provide support to those clients where the issues are more complex, and conduct an in depth strategic analysis of the business issues or refer internally or externally to more appropriate sources of help. 4. To collect intelligence and information with regard to the local economy and business advise activity and gaps in service provision for the benefit of future business support strategies and the overall success of Enterprise Programme. 5. Operate day to day in accordance with the stages and processes outlined in the toolkit, the minimum quality standards and any additional ERDF contractual obligations including reviewing business plans, grants and loans. 6. Lead the effective recruitment, training and management of a local partner network ensuring service delivery is of the highest quality with appropriate content and opportunities. Manage delivery partners to ensure that they successfully deliver the ERDF Boost Your Business (BYB) objectives. 7. Lead the effective recruitment, training and management of a local volunteer network ensuring they are highly engaged thus ensuring service delivery is of the highest quality with appropriate content, supporting young people to develop the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn ; 8. Operate day to day in accordance with the stages and processes outlined in the toolkit, the minimum quality standards and any additional ERDF contractual obligations. Records and data are accurately recorded and analysed for monthly reporting, quality assurance and continuous improvement purposes. 9. Financial processing is undertaken accurately; Monitor budgets and forecasts to ensure that targets are achieved. 10. Requirements for working with young people including Recruiting Safely, Data Protection, Safeguarding and Health and Safety are fully met and monitored; 11. Projects are effectively undertaken and supported.

3 PERSON SPECIFICATION Skills and Knowledge Essential Demonstrable knowledge of the local education, training and employment provision A strong understanding of the challenges young people within The Trust s target groups face Supervisory or line management experience Knowledge of selling techniques and strong presentation skills Good planning and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of external and internal customers Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability to work on own initiative to find creative solutions to problems Strong awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and the ability to translate these into effective action Ability to develop and deliver training sessions to young people and Partner staff High levels of influencing, persuading, negotiation and facilitation skills Desirable Knowledge of project management techniques Knowledge of local business networks. Knowledge of Health and Safety practices and processes Understanding of Balanced Scorecard, Organisational Development models/awards tools e.g. IiP, EFQM, NTA Experience of managing organisational development and change Experience Empathy with and understanding of business gained from experience in a business advisory role in the private, public sector or third sector and/or a senior position in a small or medium sized business. Experience of working within a target driven environment. Experience of running your own business.
