The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) was established to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. The IUIH is a lead agency working in partnership with key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the Council of Australian Governments Closing the Gap initiatives. Join this dynamic organisation and drive your career forward Competitive Salary Package arrangements are available This role: The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for the provision of communications expertise in the development and implementation of effective communications planning, campaigns and communication productions, in line with IUIH Communications strategies. This includes development and implementation of scheduled and unscheduled activities as part of an overall IUIH Communication and Marketing Plan as well as the provision of professional communications and public relations services to senior management in achieving the objectives of the IUIH Strategic Plan and Action Plans. Any football or sporting knowledge is highly desirable. The position will be responsible for: Identify and advise Managers on appropriate communication channels to achieve communications objectives. Provide expertise in communications and PR advice to senior management on a broad range of issues affecting the sector. Undertake research and analysis of issues impacting on IUIH s brand, position and member organisations. Research, prepare and develop public relations material including media releases, articles, advertising, and web and social media content. Provide communications and public relations support for communication activities, meetings and events. Development and scheduling of online and radio media communications. Lead the planning, developing, implementing and managing communication strategies for various audiences including project managing campaigns and taking a key role in developing channel strategy, campaign plans/timetable, costings and communication content and materials, as directed. Lead social media development and coordination within the Social Media Plan/Schedule. Oversee web content and contribute to continuous quality improvement strategies to ensure currency of website including liaising with content owners. Contribute to and facilitate processes to ensure key messages for intranet communications. Contribute to and facilitate processes to ensure key messages for intranet communications. Communication Materials: Contribute to the development of a range of corporate documentation and publications including: promotional flyers, newsletters and media releases. Design and develop promotional documentation for IUIH events and activities, i.e. Community Events, Healthy Lifestyle promotions and events. Ensure quality and compliance with writing guidelines and design standards, copyright and other legal requirements, IUIH policy and best practice. Ensure that communication requests are handled in a timely manner. Write or edit communications content as required, for IUIH and members. Assist with media monitoring and crisis management. Relationship Management: Foster productive working relationships with other IUIH staff in the delivery of seamless support services. Actively foster productive working relationships with local networks, government departments, other service providers and suppliers to promote IUIH and remain abreast of emerging issues. Encourage cross-functional collaboration to achieve the best outcome for the organisation. Champion IUIH s Ways Statement both internally and externally to the wider community. Information Management: Undertake reporting activities together with other relevant documentation within the scope of your role. Maintain the information flow that supports reliable data and documentation in your area of responsibility. Participate in business planning processes and policy and procedure

Role Requirements: Skills and Experience: 5-7 years proven experience working at a senior level of communications or similar role Demonstrated experience developing key communication deliverables for stakeholders, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people(s) Public relations/communications experience in a similar organisation Understanding of the issues including social determinants affecting Aboriginal people s health status in contemporary Australian society Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health services and the issues facing these organisations Sound knowledge of communications with the proven ability to liaise effectively with media representatives and key internal and external

5 stakeholders.
